Both agents had left U.N.C.L.E. to pursue other careers -- Solo as a computer salesman and Kuryakin as a fashion designer. Mr. Waverly had passed away and the organization is now being run by Sir John Raleigh (Patrick MacNee of the AVENGERS). A nuclear crisis brings the two back into the fold. Some witty dialogue:

Robert Vaughn & David McCallum reteam in this 1983 sequel, reprising their characters admirably & accurately, but the overall tone of this (one of the earliest of the tv "reunion" movies) fails to match the jaunty tongue-in-cheekness of the original, despite screenplay credit by series-creator Sam Rolfe, nor does it have the original hep music by Fried & Goldsmith.

The plot is typical of the '60s series: U.N.C.L.E.-vs-THRUSH, in the process dragging an innocent bystander into the fray. But besides the two leads, nothing remains of the original U.N.C.L.E. mythos. By 1983 the MGM backlot had been bulldozed for condos, so they shot entirely on location--even interiors. The result feels a little too raw. Sadly, the design ditched the sleek steel-panel walls of the original HQ, the cute miniskirted G3s & the gee-whiz technology that made the show fun. The old HQ "somewhere in the east '40s" has been boarded up and operations moved a few blocks away to new offices that smack...

However, at the end of it all, what we got was something of a molehill for the mountain of effort, a TV movie that was originally run on CBS in the spring of 1983. It;s not really bad, but it could have been so much more than it ended up being.

It's 15 years after the events of the original series, and Napoleon Solo and Illya Kuryakin have both parted ways, not entirely happily, with U.N.C.L.E. Napoleon has become a computer entrepeneur (!) and Illya has become a fashion designer (!!). Can't Wait To See the First Two Again
As an UNCLE fan from the beginning, I can clearly remember the stir the first two films "To Trap A Spy" and "The Spy With My Face" created when they were released in the movies. Released during the later part of the series' first season when UNCLE was already becoming a sensation, I can remember standing on a long line on Flatbush Avenue in Brooklyn, waiting to see them at the Loews Kings, a Golden-Age movie palace. Later when they got to my local theater, I went again and spent an entire afternoon watching them over and over.
"To Trap a Spy" is the UNCLE pilot "The Vulcan Affair" with some additional footage added featuring Lucianna Paluzzi, soon to be featured in the Bond epic "Thunderball." "The Spy With My Face" is based on the great first season episode "The Double Affair" featuring 2 Napoleon Solos. There was additional footage added as well. Both were in color, while the first season of UNCLE was broadcast in black and white. (Not that it mattered to me since we only...
1960s espionage drama
The Man from UNCLE was the first of a number of espionage series on TV during the 1960s, and for a time, one of the most successful. The two films from the first season, To Trap a Spy, an expanded version of the pilot, and Spy With My Face, were the most realistic. The scripts were written as the series was just beginning to find its style, and come across as more original than later efforts. By the second season the series had hit its stride. The premise was similar to the James Bond films, and like Ian Fleming's novels, the scripts were often fanciful. One Spy Too Many has the agents battling a megalomaniac industrialist bent on global conquest. One of Our Spies is Missing has an intriguing sci-fi angle involving a search for an anti-aging device, and is somewhat understated. In the third season, the series degenerated into self-parody, with the result that the two films from that era are mediocre at best. In the fourth season, the series went back to the original approach...

I had just purchased an all-region DVD player and the UNCLE movies in PAL format when Warner Brothers announced the release of the entire set of movies.

As a "first cousin", one of the most important reasons for having the movies is that they contain additional characters, scenes and storylines not included in the televised episodes. For US UNCLE fans, having all of the movies is a particularly advantageous since the later movies were never shown in US theatres.

I'm in agreement with the well-written Cohen review, which provided a lot of background information about the movies. I can't remember how much the review specifically covered about the episodes from which the movies were created, so I apologize for any redundancies.

Miles from Tomorrowland (a very clever title, I must say) is a Disney Junior CG animated series about the futuristic Calistos family. A nuclear family with a mom, dad, son and daughter, they bring to mind several recent and classic TV shows. They remind me of The Jetsons, of course, to begin with, using phrases like “blastastic” and “astrolutely”. only they take a more active role in helping in the galaxy.

And as on Star Trek: Voyager, mom is the Captain (just like in my house). Like Thunderbirds, they receive assignments to assist and rescues, using their combined talents. Like Handy Manny, the family helps others and fixes things in their community of space. And like The Donna Reed Show’s Stone clan, they’re attractive, pleasant and free of serious dysfunction.

Miles From Tomorrowland is a futuristic space themed animated series on Disney Junior. It came out in February of 2015 and has some recurring characters with famous voice actors including Bill Nye, Alton Brown, Wil Wheaton, George Takei, and Mark Hamill. The main character, Miles, is an enthusiastic and curious kid that often finds himself in and out of trouble. His sister, Loretta, is the complete opposite and follows the rules and is the smarter of the two kids. Their mother, Phoebe, is the spaceship's captain with their father, Leo, as the ship's engineer. The parents work for Tomorrowland's Transit Authority and undertake many missions to keep outer space safe for all of its travelers.
