In this crime thriller, a former CIA agent, John Reese (Jim Caviezel) teams up with mysterious billionaire Harold Finch (Michael Emerson) to prevent violent crimes before they happen. Reese's special training in covert operations appeals to Finch, a software genius who invented a program, aka "The Machine," that can identify people soon to be involved in violent crimes. Tapping into ubiquitous surveillance feeds throughout the city, the two work outside of the law, combining Reese's black ops skills with Finch's technological prowess and unlimited wealth to unravel the mystery of the person of interest, and stop the crime before it happens. Review :
You'll never find us, but victim or perpetrator, if your number's up... we'll find you".
Many new concept shows capture the public's interest and develop quite a fan base their Freshman Year. But, if you have ANY decent experience with Sci-Fi or Dystopian series, you know that the vast majority of them fall flat on their Sophomore Faces! From Terra Nova, Heroes, Falling Skies, etc., some end at the 1st year, some limp along into the 2nd before cancellation, and then the unfathomable few struggle with the die-hard fans until the plug is pulled. (I've been one of those fans of all three examples.)

So, when a series like PERSON OF INTEREST, which is described by some as a "Cop Procedural Show" can not only make it past the first year but into a second one, there's cause to celebrate! Yes, this IS a Cop Procedural Show but with so many subtle twists and turns to it. The first year was pretty basic: it introduced the viewers to the Core Four: Finch; Reese; Carter and Fusco. (no need to write about them if you're reading a 2nd season review). Each week there was a...
A great continuation of an awesome show (spoiler alert)
I first found out about the show, "Person of Interest" by accident via Wikipedia. When I read about how it involved a former Green Beret/CIA operative using his skills to prevent violent crimes, I was already interested (I love movies/shows like The Bourne Series and 24 where highly-trained former soldiers/agents put the smack down on bad guys), but I figured I wouldn't be able to watch it 'cause I didn't have TV and it wasn't on Netflix. Last Christmas, when I saw the first season on DVD, and I bought it. I was instantly hooked and practically devoured all the episodes. I quickly realized that Season 2 was going on, but I despaired because there was no way to catch up with the episodes.
Fast forward to a few days ago, I checked on Season 2 on Amazon to see when it would come out on DVD, and I found out - much to my joyful surprise - that I could purchase the episodes on Instant Video. So that's exactly what I did.
I am very happy to say that Season 2 does not...
My second Amazon Review because POI is just so amazing
This has to be one of the best TV shows I have ever seen. Great cast and always changing plots so you never know where the storyline will be going. Every show is worth watching at least twice to pick up on the nuances you missed the first time.

Already looking forward to Season Three.

Review :
Wow. I Am Impressed
I had low expectations when I decided to download the pilot episode. After the utter failure of 'The Cape' and other superhero TV shows ruined with poor acting, poor action and plots that could have been written by a 10 year old, who can blame me for expecting Arrow to be another loser. However, I actually came away impressed ... and I am not that easily impressed.

First, the selection of Stephen Amell as Green Arrow was excellent. I was worried the role would go to a male model more concerned with being pretty than being a hardened man on a mission. With Stephen Amell as Green Arrow you get a guy who comes off more as an MMA fighter, which makes Arrow so much more believable. The action scenes are crisp and effective. Arrow starts out with grit and has an edgy quality that keeps you interested. The plot contains plenty of room for mystery and the dialogue/acting is pretty good. It makes no difference if you are a Green Arrow fan or not, this show is about enjoying a...
This show justs gets better and better!
I love, love, love this show. Such a nice change from the usual mostly meh kind of shows many of the networks are churning out like the mindless so called "reality" shows that I refuse to watch. Way to go CW-this is a winner.

Not your average superhero fan
First let me say, I probably skew the demographics on superhero TV and movies. I am a 52 year-old woman, and have loved the science fiction and superhero genres since I was 12. I love the X-men movies (all of them), most of the Batman movies, the first Iron Man movie, not crazy about Superman (too goody-goody for me, I like 'em dark!). I'm a faithful fan of the excellent Grimm, and the sometimes over-the-top Once Upon A Time. I even enjoy watching some of the animated Spiderman and others with my grandson (LOVE the Di-gata Defenders!). The best ones are archetypes, resonating in the soul.

That said, my review:

This series is really well-done, the cast is exceptionally strong considering their lack of fame, the acting is well above average for the genre, and particularly for a television series. It's dark, often creepy (but not so much that I wouldn't let a nine- or ten-year-old watch it), plenty of action, with a wonderfully believable set of characters. Stephen...

Worth waiting all summer
The season starts right where it left off and answers in the first episode many of the questions we were left with in the season 3 finale. Will Elena complete the transition and become a vampire? Will she have chosen Damon after remembering everything? What will happen to Tyler and Caroline now that Klaus is possessing Tyler's body? Will Damon kill Rebecca for her part in Elena's death? It is a very satisfying first episode for fans of Team Stefan, not so much for fans of Team Damon. But for fans of TVD who watch the show for all characters and love the high quality and consistency of the writing and acting on this show , it was fantastic.

a bad season for my favorite show
WARNING: THIS REVIEW CONTAINS SPOILERS (but hopefully not too many major ones).

DISCLAIMER: I do actually like this show and plan on sticking with it, because I'm OCD and must see things through to the end. That being said, every show has a bad season - Buffy had the snooze-fest of season four, Angel had the truly terrible baby plot line in season three, Smallville had a dull-as-dishwater-Zod in season nine, and ... well, this is TVD's bad season. (I hope, because it's a mess and I'd hate to sit through another one.) The thing is, when the show is good, it's really good, and when it's bad, it's incredibly bad.

Watching this season reminded me of reading "Breaking Dawn." It started out promising then turned into total crap, but I kept reading hoping for the EPIC RESOLUTION that would make up for 500 pages of self-defeating, totally illogical bull that preceded it. Lo and behold, instead of an epic resolution, I got 40 pages of pontificating and vampires standing...
It's become an obsession
This show makes me feel young and giddy again. Takes me back to the good ole Buffy and Angel Days. Though cant compare the writing to that of joss. I still thoroughlly enjoy!

Pretty Little Liars: The Complete Second Season (DVD)

Filled with mystery, scandal and intrigue, the hit drama, nominated for a People's Choice Award for Favorite TV Obsession, continues for another suspenseful season. In season one, as four 16-year-old girlfriends - Aria , Hanna, Spencer and Emily - dealt with the aftermath of their best friend Alison's mysterious disappearance and death, they thought their secrets were safe forever. Yet they began to receive messages from someone named "A" who seemed to know their most private details - details they wanted to keep hidden - threatening everything they held dear as secrets, lies and betrayals continued to unfold. Season two begins moments after the explosive season one finale and the girls are the talk of the town. Surprises and challenges will be in store for each, and "A" may succeed in her quest. The series also stars Holly Marie Combs, Ian Harding, Laura Leighton and Chad Lowe.

]]>High school is a turbulent time for any teenager, but factor in the murder of a good friend and constant stalking by a relentless blackmailer, and four Rosewood teens are living unbelievably stressful, dangerous lives. In the second season of Pretty Little Liars, Emily, Hanna, Spencer, and Aria are crumbling under the constant pressure of A's relentless texts and the knowledge that A inexplicably knows every little detail of their lives, including their thoughts, and is watching and anticipating the girls' every move. The season opens with Ian, the girls' prime suspect for murdering Alison, falling from the bell tower, but the girls' relief is short-lived as Ian's body disappears and the police refuse to believe their account of what happened. Eventually the mystery around Ian clears up, but just when it looks like Alison's murder has finally been solved, the girls discover that things are once again not what they seem. Meanwhile, Spencer's family is falling apart, with Melissa now pregnant and husbandless and Alison's brother Jason stirring things up by moving back in next door. Aria and Ezra's relationship gets even more complicated, and Aria's brother Mike finds himself in trouble with the law, while their parents find themselves tested like never before. Emily's shot at a swimming scholarship get derailed, and she ends up moving in with Hanna and her mom, who have their own problems, thanks to Hanna's dad's impending remarriage and move. Add in a therapist, assorted boyfriends and girlfriends who get pulled into the mess to varying degrees, Jenna's chance to regain her sight, Hanna's new stepsister, increasing parental suspicion, and the never-ending interest of the local police, and there's plenty of drama, and trauma, for these Rosewood teens, who've never felt more alone. The last few episodes of the season culminate in the discovery of A's identity, and it looks like A's reign of terror over the four girls will finally end--unless.…

What makes this series based on the books by Sara Shepard so addictive is the constant intensity of suspense and mystery, and the realization that these girls are basically not that different from the average teenager struggling to discover their own identity and sense of self-worth. The fact that these teens have been pushed to such extremes by desperate circumstances leaves viewers contemplating the frightening thought of just how they might react in a similar situation. ~Addictive Show!~
Pretty Little Liars is such an addictive show! It's suspenseful and full of drama and lots of scandal..It comes on regular cable which of course has commercials inbetween so I can't wait to puchase this which will be commercial free! If you haven't seen this show before it's defiantly worth seeing!

"A"mazing
Ok lets just start off by saying i am writing this after the finale of the second season. This show puts me on a roller-coaster of emotions in just one episode I cry, I laugh, I cheer (for Ezra and Aria), and i also get really mad. This show has been one of the greatest tv shows that i have seen in the longest time and i have been watching it since episode 1. I don't think many people would be disappointed in the show if they actually sit down and watch it from season one. It is a show that fills all my need, scary, funny, intense, mind-blowing, confusing and makes me think all the time. And they don't just leave leave you with a cliffhanger leave leave you with a Mount Everest hanger. this is the greatest show i can not express my love for it enough and i think everyone should give it a huge chance cause it will definantly not let you down.

Sweet, Fun, Dark and Dramatically AWESOME!

This season of Pretty Little Liars has been nothing short of excellent! It is truly a great, addictive show that I wanna watch - no, need to watch. It is not TV biggest guilty pleasure, because I have no guilt or shame about watching this slueth, sexy and sassy show with a cast of not only beautiful, but EXTREMELY talented and dynamic/rounded young women.

Each character is constantly growing and becoming more versatile, while adding new secrets to their bags of lies and mysteries.

Aria: Played by the lovely Lucy Hale, is quite possible one of the most beautiful people that I have ever seen! I mean honestly, this girl is stunning and has a beautiful/powerful singing voice and terrific acting chops that she brings to the table every episode. Perfection.

Emily: Possibly one of strongest characters in terms of dynamic change. From this episode to the previous few, Emily has handing people their...

Rizzoli & Isles: The Complete Second Season (DVD)

Angie Harmon (Law & Order) and Sasha Alexander (NCIS) return for season two of the hit series as Boston's top crime-solving duo, Detective Jane Rizzoli and Dr. Maura Isles. Complete opposites, the two women share an offbeat chemistry and strong working relationship. As the second season opens, Jane and Frankie (Jordan Bridges) are recovering from bullets they took during a siege at the police station. As Jane struggles to overcome scars that are more emotional than physical, an old flame (Chris Vance – Dexter) returns. On the home front, Jane's mother, Angela (Lorraine Bracco – The Sopranos), is despondent over a major upheaval in her own life, complicated by the arrival of Jane's older brother, Tommy (Colin Egglesfield – Melrose Place). And for Maura, home life gets complicated when her adoptive mother, Constance Isles (Jacqueline Bisset – Nip/Tuck), comes to visit. Plus, Jane and Maura take on a number of intriguing cases this season - and you can watch them all right here!

]]>Once again it's all about chemistry in this second season of Rizzoli & Isles (with 15 episodes, plus bonus material, on three discs). Sometimes that's literally the chemicals used by Dr. Maura Isles (Sasha Alexander), the forensic pathologist who, as medical examiner, figures out what killed the victims whose murderers Boston detective Jane Rizzoli (Angie Harmon) is trying to bring to justice. More often, it's the chemistry between the two title characters that's at the heart of this series. This pair is a younger, much sexier, distaff answer to The Odd Couple, with Isles the meticulous, sometimes prissy Felix to Rizzoli's less analytical, more cynical Oscar. They're both good at their jobs, of course; Isles's knowledge about just about everything is almost laughably encyclopedic, while Rizzoli is an intuitive, courageous cop. But though the procedural aspect of the show is detailed and reasonably involving (this season they deal with vicious rapes, fire bombings, and ice pick killings; there are also fairly preposterous episodes involving a modern-day witch hunt, a baseball star run amok, a So You Think You Can Dance-type competition, and more), it's the constant banter between these two mismatched best friends that fuels the episodes. They talk about man issues; Maura's hot but naive, Rizzoli's skeptical, and both are single. And they have family issues--boy, do they have family issues, what with Jane's mother (Lorraine Bracco) in extreme bitter mode over her impending divorce and her wayward youngest brother having just been released from prison (her other brother's a cop), while Maura's biological dad is a notorious mobster who long ago somehow hooked up with her beautiful socialite mother, played by Jacqueline Bisset. Much of this is presented with an appealing light touch. Notwithstanding some gruesome cases, Rizzoli & Isles is not a gritty show; in fact, there's enough cutesy stuff, even when they're on the job, to make it hard to take the crimes seriously. But with Harmon and Alexander around, crime novelist Tess Gerritsen's works remain in good hands. --Sam Graham

This type of thing Offer exceeded own prospect, that one has turned into a wonderfull buy for me personally, The concept appeared securely along with quickly Rizzoli & Isles: Season 1

Tough & smart. Edgy & humorous. Rizzoli & Isles. Angie Harmon and Sasha Alexander star as combative, working-class Boston detective Jane Rizzoli and cool, cerebral medical examiner Dr. Maura Isles in an exciting police procedural with a compelling point of view, based on the bestselling novels by Tess Gerritsen. The two women have each other's backs as they investigate their city’s grittiest and most puzzling homicides, from the Back Bay to back alleys. The high-caliber supporting cast includes Lorraine Bracco (The Sopranos) as Jane’s overprotective mom. Some best friends shop together, some meet for Mojitos, some join book clubs. Rizzoli and Isles bust crime. Talk about grrrl power! Rizzoli & Isles features the best two-woman crime-solving duo since Cagney & Lacey--supported by terrific writing and outside-the-box cases. Angie Harmon has never been better, as the tough Boston detective Jane Rizzoli. Her partner in crime (solving) is the equally impressive Sasha Alexander as Dr. Maura Isles, the by-the-books medical examiner who always has Rizzoli's back, but is often appalled at the cop's hard-charging tough-Boston-girl approach. Rizzoli & Isles is based on the series of popular mysteries by Tess Gerritsen, and adapted faithfully and engagingly for TV viewers. One thing that sets Rizzoli & Isles apart from the average police procedural is its crisp direction and subtle writing; even the most die-hard cop-show viewer will be engaged and surprised by the plots' twists and turns. And then there's the acting. Harmon has harnessed her dramatic chops and uses them perfectly as Rizzoli, and Alexander is both ideal sidekick and sometime foil as she tries to steer Rizzoli to follow the rules. The key in any double-starring series is chemistry, and Harmon and Alexander have it in spades--their sparring and intellectual one-upmanship are completely believable. The cases in season one are varied, though focus mostly on serial killers, with one particularly gripping case flashing back to the notorious Boston Strangler case. The first season of Rizzoli & Isles features two great behind-the-scenes features, one with series creator Janet Tamaro on how she adapted the Gerritsen books, and another with the cast and crew about the making of the series. There's also a hilarious gag reel that shows just how much fun everyone is really having on the set. A must for crime-show buffs and fans of great actresses heading their own series. --A.T. Hurley

Review :
Tough, Boston Tough...
The good news about "Rizzoli & Isles: The Complete First Season" is that it gets Angie Harmon (Law and Order) and Sasha Alexander (NCIS) back on network TV. The better news, depending on your tastes in police procedurals, is that it plunks the two of them down as mis-matched buddies in the middle of a rather dark, gritty crime drama.

Angie Harmon is Jane Rizzoli, a tough, driven Boston detective who survived an earlier and nearly fatal encounter with a serial killer named Charles Hoyt. She was saved by her old partner, the recurring character detective Vince Korsack (an excellent Bruce McGill). The edgy Jane has some unresolved trauma issues and a mother (Lorraine Bracco) waiting for Jane to settle down with a nice guy and start making grandchildren. Jane would rather be just one of the guys. Sasha Alexander is Dr. Maura Isles, Chief Medial Examiner, organized, strait-laced and often hilariously socially awkward. The two are an unlikely buddy team, but their teamwork...
Readers Beware
First, this is an excellent series and I love the chemistry between the actresses. However, readers be warned that this is not exactly the Rizzoli & Isles in the books and liberties are taken. That said, it's an interesting show and Angie Harmon is a joy to look at and I do like how they played up the quirky side of Maura Isles. Honestly, it's worth reading the books as well as watching the show. Having read the books I did not feel that the show wasn't worth my time.Looking forward to the next season on dvd.

Great Series!
I love love love this series. This series brings in the human element that is missing from your long standing hits like Law & Order: SVU and all the CSIs. Not only is all the crime drama there, the scientific aspect, but we also have the human element...the characters' personal lives. I believe this is what makes this a hit show. Jane's match making Ma, Jane's little bro trying to be like his big sis, Maura and Jane's friendship, etc. You get to see all the past experiences in their lives and how they've been affected: Frost's absent Navy Admiral Dad, Korsack's multiple divorces, Jane's unwanted obsession by a serial killer, Maura's abandonment issues from her adoptive parents.

The chemistry between Angie Harmon and Sasha Alexander is fluid and natural and comes through so easily onscreen. It's rare to have that type of natural connection between the actors/actresses on a show and TNT has definitely found it in these two ladies.

This is one of the few...

Supernatural: The Complete Fourth Season (DVD)

"Years ago, Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Dean Winchester (Jensen Ackles) lost their mother to a mysterious and demonic supernatural force. Subsequently, their father raised them to be soldiers, teaching them about the paranormal evil that lives in dark corners and on the back roads of America. And he taught them how to kill it. This haunting series follows the Winchester brothers as they travel the lonely and mysterious back roads of the country in their '67 Chevy Impala, hunting down every evil supernatural force they encounter along the way. At the start of the fourth season, Dean has been freed from Hell, but he can't remember how or why, or what happened while he was there. It soon becomes clear that Sam has secrets of his own, including what happened in the four months Dean was gone. As the brothers answer these questions, they also face a dire threat. There are whispers that an evil demon will soon be freed from its prison. If Sam and Dean can't stop it, it could mean the Apocalypse …

]]>When a television series opens its new season with a lead character crawling out of his grave after escaping Hell itself, one cannot help but wonder: how will the rest of the episodes ever follow that? In the case of Supernatural's fourth season, the answer comes from above with the introduction of Misha Collins's Castiel, an angel dispatched to rescue Dean Winchester (Jensen Ackles) from infernal torment and reunite him with brother Sam (Jared Padalecki) for a very special mission. That quest--to stop the demonic Lilith from opening the 66 seals required to bring Lucifer to Earth and launch the Apocalypse--forms the backbone of the 22 episodes, which takes some fairly adventurous risks with the core of the show. Chief among these is the rift that deepens between Dean and Sam as they attempt to work together, despite their divergent destinies; also agreeable is the season's tonal shift away from its previous Monster of the Week format (though that's still intact for many episodes) and toward a single, more ambitious story and thematic arc. The sea change deepens the show's drama, intensifies the level of suspense and stakes in each episode, and pushes it several big steps away from its teen-friendly origins. Of course, there's still plenty of the show's trademark irreverence and humor to be found, especially in the clever "Monster Movie," which pits the brothers against a Shapeshifter that takes the form of classic movie fiends, and "The Monster at the End of This Book," where Sam and Dean discover a comic book with plot lines very similar to their own lives. By the time Supernatural's fourth season reaches its cliffhanger ending with "Lucifer Rising" (the title neatly sums up the plot), viewers should be fairly hungering for the next episode--a good sign that a veteran series is still hitting its stride.

Extras on the six-disc set include commentary for three episodes: "In the Beginning," with executive producer Eric Kripke and writer Jeremy Carver; "When the Levee Breaks," with director Robert Singer and writer Sara Gamble; and "Lucifer Rising" with Kripke. Extended scenes are also available for several episodes, and the features are rounded out by a trio of somewhat ponderous featurettes on the concepts of Heaven, Purgatory, and Hell, as depicted in scenes from the show and discussed by its writers, theologians, paranormal investigators, and the like. Clocking in between 10 and 25 minutes apiece, the docs feel padded and somewhat undernourished in the information department. However, they're unlikely to detract from one's enjoyment of this stellar season. --Paul Gaita

Angels and Demons and Winchesters
I highly anticipated the return of Supernatural after the cliff hanger we were left with on Season Three. So far [there's still a couple more episodes of season four which have yet to air] this season has not been disappointing. From the beginning, with Dean escaping from Hell, to this raging war between the angels and demons, this is one action packed adventure and thrilling ride to be on. I have watched this show from it's debut, and it just keeps getting better. I don't want to reveal too much information for those who read this and have not watched SPN, and I also can't comment as much as I'd like because the season has not yet finished. However, I couldn't wait 'til it's completion to fill out a review for it, and I have definitely put this box set on Alert so that I know immediately when it's released this Fall [more than likely]. I can't wait to have these episodes on DVD to rewatch and relive. I highly recommend this show to anyone; this season stands so far to be the best of...
Supernatural's 4th is 'Angelic'
Even though season three of "Supernatural" was tragically cut short because of the writer's strike, 16 episodes instead of the usual 22, it never came up short. It ended the season with one massive cliffhanger and left it's fans and viewers wanting to race through the summer to see what happened. Dean had to beat the clock thanks to his deal with the crossroads demon, and when the season ended, it left many people wondering how in the world it could continue. What did creator Eric Kripke have up his sleeve?. Will the show ever be the same?. Season four is still currently airing as of this writing, with only one more episode to go. The big season finale. It is sure to be brilliant thanks to an already brilliant season. So, what does season four have in store?. Let's get into it(without being spoilery)....

The basic premise for season 4 concerns Dean Winchester(the continually show stealing Jensen Ackles)and his reappearance out of hell. He and the others will wonder how it...
Fang-tastic Show!
Supernatural, season 4 makes up for the 17 episodes of season 3 (thanks WGA people!)with a full 22 episode run. This is a rare gem of a show where I find myself rewatching a season every 3-4 months (never, ever boring). Seriously, this show has become something of a religion and has re-introduced me to classic, old school rock from the likes of AC/DC & Grand Funk Railroad.

Outstanding episodes here include: In The Beginning (where we see a smoking hot actress called Amy Gumenick as a young Mary Winchester); Metamorphosis; After School Special; Jump The Shark (which was Eric Kripke's in-joke about Chad Michael Murray being a third Winchester brother and introduces us to a new foe); The Rapture; Family Remains (unusually news topical) and saving the best for last: Yellow Fever, where at the very end, we have Dean Winchester doing his rendition of Survivor's "Eye of the Tiger" - believe me, you will watch that scene again and again! It's no wonder youtube get so many hits on...

Details & Features of Blade Runner Final Cut are announced
Due for re-release in December, this motion picture is one of the finest science fiction films of the 20th century. Part of this is because it projects a future that could be - the earth as a place with a ruined environment populated by people that couldn't or wouldn't make the jump to one of the more habitable off-world colonies. The other part is because the film questions what it means to be human, and explores the possibly unsatisfactory answers you might get if you could, like the replicants, hunt down your maker and ask him Why am I here? Why must my life end? I'll pretty much let Warner's press release do the talking from this point forward. Basically you have your choice of three different sets - 2-disc, 4-disc, and 5-disc. The discs are described as follows:

Disc 1 - Ridley Scott's All-New "Final Cut" Version of the film - Restored and remastered with added & extended scenes, added lines, new and cleaner special effects and all new 5.1 Dolby Digital Audio. Also...
More Human than Human, that's our motto ...
Having seen this movie probably more times and in more different formats than most people, I thought it was time I write a few words about this masterpiece of filmmaking. Truly, I wasn't boasting with my assertion that I've seen this movie as much as I have (I watch this movie almost once a week and have done so for almost 10 years). I own several, still unopened, VHS tapes that for a large part of the nineties I did my best at collecting. I own the Japanese Laserdisc version, a rare bootleg VHS version that was distributed over the internet a handful of years ago that has the narration selectively placed back into the Director's Cut version of the film, not called the Esper Version as some would want to label it, the Director's Cut and now the HD version of the Final Cut. That makes 5, but 6 if you count the Workprint version that comes with this box set. So, I would say that's one more than most.

Blade Runner first and foremost, is probably the greatest film ever made,...
Blade Runner: The Final Cut. ~ Blu Ray Review
Finally, the version I've been waiting for and many others as well. For years Blade Runner fans have been subject to the insane number of versions of Blade Runner and even the 5 disc Blu Ray copy that really is not worth the price you pay. The Final Cut is the version to have if you truly love the Blade Runner experience and have always hated the annoying voiceover by Harrison Ford that has plagued various copies of the film. Ridley Scott himself was able to have full artistic license with this film and you will not be disappointed. What you will be greeted with is a very clean, crisp HD version of the film and just the best single copy out there without all the extra discs of fluff and crappier versions. This version has the omitted voiceover, alternate ending without the "happy resolution" and the inclusion of the Unicorn dream. Any other reviews that knock the film are most likely fans of the voiceover which spoon feeds you information and takes away the lonely rainy feeling you...

The FINAL 29 episodes of BTAS!!!
Even though the description on Amazon says 28, there are 29 episodes total in this set. This completes the 85 total episodes of Batman: The Animated Series which ran from 1992-1995. It was known as The Adventures of Batman & Robin starting from Season 3 onward which included a new opening sequence and theme (which are included on the proper episodes). These episodes are still considered part of BTAS and are included in this set.

This set DOES NOT include the 24 episodes from Batman: Gotham Knights (aka The New Batman Adventures) which ran from 1997-1999 alongside Superman TAS on WB. Hopefully a 4th set that includes these episodes will be released later this year.

The episodes included in this third volume are considered some of the best episodes in the entire series. There are some great commentaries (Read my Lips, House and Garden, Harlequinade) and featurettes (Gotham's New Knight - Batgirl). It also includes a trailer for the new Batman Begins movie. As...
New Villains! 29 (not 28) episodes! Batgirl!
This is a hard decision, but I have to say that this volume is better than the other two. Barbara Gordon gets introduced as Batgirl for the first time, and we meet new villains! Ra's Al Ghul, Baby-Doll, Scarface, Bane, Lock Up, are Maxie Zeus and introduced in these 29 great episodes. Mr. Freeze, The Riddler, The Penguin, Poison Ivy, Two-Face, The Mad Hatter, Harley Quinn, Killer Croc, The Clock King, and Red Claw return! This is clearly a better volume than the previous because it concludes "Batman: The Animated Series," and has cool extras. Some people, however, think that the extras (special features) are bad because they're mainly commentary. Well, I hope you buy this totally awesome 4-disc set.....packed with 609 minutes of action!!! Some episodes descriptions to get you interested are the following: Ra's Al Ghul needs Batman's help to find his daughter Talia, Batman's villains hold a trial against him, Scarface frames Catwoman, the Joker steals an atomic bomb, Red Claw plans to...

Review :
You wouldn't want to miss this season
The fifth season of the Mentalist will take you even deeper into Patrick Jane's world. With the capture of Lorelei Martins, Jane is determined to use her in order to find Red John's real identity. Jane uses his wits, honesty, and even deceptions in attempts to "convert" Lorelei. We also get to see more glimpses of Jane's pasts, and (perhaps) learn more about Red John's background. In this season, Jane is more reckless, cunning, and charming than ever.

This season also explored deeper into the personal lives of the CBI team. Lisbon has her own nemesis, a criminal who she is more determined to catch than any other criminal. During this chase, she becomes quite obsessed with catching him. No doubt, she understood Jane's obsession with Red John more now that she, too, has someone who she wanted to catch so badly. As for other members, we get to see more of their personal lives as well: Cho and Summer; Rigsby and Van Pelt; and Rigsby and his father. These episodes allow us to...
CBI and the FBI Fight over a Red John Witness
In the fifth season opener, the CBI and FBI join forces to cover up the mess created when the FBI botched a CBI mission to capture Red John and a CBI agent is brutally murdered. Bertram is back playing politics with his FBI counterpart, and Patrick Jane is determined to crack captured Red John disciple Lorelei (EMMANUELLE CHRIQUI). The case of the week is a doozy - a double homicide with no apparent connection between the two victims. When the CBI and FBI are forced to play nice and investigate the double homicide together, Jane uses his skills to solve the case and to force the FBI to relinquish custody of Lorelei. Great start to the season.

Mentalist
This show is not your average cop show. The show is based in Sacramento, Ca., and I'm happy that some of it is actually filmed there. No doubt CBI's headquarters is filmed in L.A.'s film studios.

Yes this show did start off with Jane tracking down Red John - his wife and daughter's killer. Jane is still trying to catch this illusive serial killer. And having copy cats and "helpers" doesn't really help Jane get any closer to Red John. But for the past 5 seasons, this show has done a good job in showing that Patrick Jane has matured. He can be both obsessed in finding Red John AND being able to function in other activities: I.e. helping Teresa Lisbon (Robin Tunney) investigate crimes. His job is after all a paid consultant for the California Bureau of Investigation (CBI).

Simon Baker plays a really good "mentalist" in this show. "Mentalist" in Patrick Jane's perspective as an admitted fraud to psychic powers. I liked how he commented in one show how there...

Stunning Dolby 5.1 sound and Visual Effects
This is the best sounding 5.1 channel DVD that I have heard so far! The thunderstorms sound like the real thing and the dialog is always crisp and clear. This disc includes both widescreen and full screen versions of the movie. Unfortunately, there aren't any good special features on this disc (thats why only 4 stars instead of 5). I would have liked to have seen some behind the scenes info. This film has stunning visual effects and it would be nice to watch the computer art gurus in action! Even without special features, this disc is worth the money. It will squeeze every drop of performance out of your home theater!

Hang on!
If ever a film was made to perpetuate the stereotype of Oklahoma as a state mercilessly and relentlessly ravaged by tornadoes, TWISTER is it. As a resident of Oklahoma, I can assure the readers of this review of two things: 1) tornadoes do on occasion occur here; and 2) tornadoes do not come in endless waves, one after another, like some sort of demented assembly line.
Having said this, TWISTER is a remarkably entertaining film. It's a fasten-your-seatbelt, get-ready-to-duck, leave-both-hands-inside-the-car rollercoaster ride, complete with eye-popping, hair-raising special effects. This movie is a vivid feast for the eyes: menacing, swirling tornadoes of various shapes and sizes; flying cows; and an endless assortment of storm debris to block the path of our protagonists, from tractors to tanker trucks--even houses.
The plot plays second fiddle to the action and special effects. Thank goodness: if the plot had to carry this film, the movie would have collapsed into a...
Two Disc Special Edition Review
This a review of the DVD, not the movie. There are as many opinions of the movie as there are people to watch it.
The newest DVD is a vast improvement over the first two releases. The image is cleaner with stronger colors, better matched to the theatrical print. It also has few in any visible mpeg artifacts. The sound is essentially a match to the second DVD release, without the DTS track. The big improvement in sound is on the commentary track. In the previous release, the movie's audio wasn't reduced enough in volume and would often overwhelm the commentators, to the point that one couldn't understand a word they were saying. This is corrected in the new version.
The second DVD in the set is largely made up of previously released material. But there are two documentaries added that make it worthwhile. "Twister Revisted" is an interesting anecdotal look back on the production. Also included is a History Channel documentary that gives viewers a look at the reality of tornado...

Batman: The Animated Series Vol. 2

Vowing to avenge the murder of his wealthy parents, Bruce Wayne devotes his life to wiping out lawlessness in Gotham City. The Dark Knight battles his inner demons as well as the evil figures who bedevil him. Volume two features appearances from villains Killer Croc, Two-Face, Harley Quinn, Ra's Al Ghul and others.

]]>The early-'90s Batman series was probably the best animated superhero show ever, mixing stylish animation with a dark tone appropriate for the Dark Knight. The second volume, comprising four discs of 28 episodes and vastly preferable to the many single-disc releases, features familiar characters the Joker, Catwoman, the Penguin, Two-Face, Poison Ivy, as well as the first appearances of the Riddler, and Ra's Al Ghul and Talia. The episodes are highlighted by the Emmy-winning two-parter "Robin's Reckoning," which recounts the origin of the Boy Wonder and his chance for revenge years later. In "Perchance to Dream," Bruce Wayne finds his parents alive and another Batman patrolling Gotham City, the two-part "Something" pits Batman against Miyazaki-styled robots, and Batman revisits the samurai training of his past in "Night of the Ninja" and "Day of the Samurai." Give the series credit for not talking down to kids--Japanese characters spoke in Japanese with English subtitles, and one episode, "Almost Got 'Im," was styled after a '50s black-and-white variety show. It employed smart humor and characterization even to the point where it could let villains carry an episode. Certain stories were based on comic books, and the series involved comics veterans such as Denny O'Neil and Len Wein. Also camp-master Adam West appears as the voice of the Grey Ghost. --David Horiuchi

Batman Returns For Volume Two!
Get ready for more dark justice as the Dark Knight prowls the streets and skies of Gotham City for the criminal element which infests it in Batman: The Animated Series - Volume Two. This 4-disc set features 28 episodes of animated bliss which include the first appearances of Ra's Al Ghul ("Tron's" David Warner), and his beautiful daughter Talia ("Supergirl's" Helen Slater) in "Off Balance"; and The Riddler ("Smallville's" John Glover) in "If You're So Smart, Why Aren't You Rich?" The set also includes the Emmy-winning "Robin's Reckoning" with corresponding commentary by Bruce Timm and Eric Radomski. As always, the voice talents never cease to amaze. The brilliant thought and care put into the series' voice casting is a tradition that continued with the later DC Comics superhero shows, Teen Titans and Justice League Unlimited. After years of steadfastly ignoring the ardent wishes of its fan base, Warner Brothers is finally continuing to release its landmark Batman: The Animated Series in quailty DVD complete box sets, instead of dolling the episodes out at a sluggish four or five at a time! The "seasons" are somewhat complicated to explain as the Animated saga is actually comprised of three separate "series" that originally aired from 1992-1995, with some of the episodes being replayed in the upcoming "season," hence the designation of "Volume" rather than "Season" in the DVD box set releases.

Closer, The: The Complete Fourth Season (DVD)

An offbeat personality, a tough-as-nails approach and a track record as one of the country's leading investigators: These are just a few of the traits exhibited by Deputy Police Chief Brenda Leigh Johnson. For the Atlanta transplant heading up the Priority Homicide Division of the Los Angeles Police Department, her position on this elite detective squad, which handles high-profile cases of a sensitive nature, is a tenuous balancing act. She faces antagonistic roadblocks, even from her own peers within the department, and must manage a team that remains wary of her unconventional style.

]]>"Oh, for heaven's sake, it is a head!" The Southern drawl and mild exasperation are by now familiar to TV crime buffs: Kyra Sedgwick's steel-magnolia-with-a-badge, Deputy Chief Brenda Leigh Johnson. The fourth season of The Closer finds Sedgwick in super form, as the scattered, ditzy mama's girl with a weakness for junk food and a singular focus when it comes to getting perps to talk. Yet the strength of The Closer goes far beyond just Sedgwick, as formidable as she is. The ensemble cast is also stellar, and very human and believable. Johnson's fellow cops (among whom Johnson is, finally, one of the boys, albeit in frilly skirts) are fleshed-out and battle their own demons. And this season viewers get to know Johnson's fiancé, the FBI agent Fritz Howard (Jon Tenney), much better, along with his "psychic" sister (the unforgettable Amy Sedaris), and Brenda's doting parents, as both families prepare for the happy couple's impending nuptials--if serial killers and terrorist plots will only give them a little break. The boxed set includes the full season, along with delicious extras, including an unforgettable blooper reel (the cast really does seem to have a blast shooting this series, as viewers have long suspected; and don't miss guest star Jennifer Coolidge's R-rated ad lib café scene). There's also an informative featurette with Corey Reynolds (the hunky Sgt. Gabriel) and LAPD Det. Mike Berchem, an adviser to the series; deleted scenes, and more. Thank you--thank you so much! --A.T. Hurley

Review :
The Closer Just Keeps Getting Better and Better!!
I have been an avid fan of this television show since the first episode of the first season. I have purchased all previous seasons. I noticed that with the beginning of season four an upgrade had been made with regards to the writing, plots, and characterizations of the shows regulars. (We still don't know Provenza's first name...) The most rewarding thing for me is that everything about the show improved in a very dramatic way. I love watching all the previous seasons' shows over and over again, but I anticipate that season four will be equally great especially without all the commercials! Kyra Sedgwick is the tasty bait for this show, but every other actor on the set is a joy to behold. I applaud the writers and the directors for bringing out everyone's best!!!!

One of the strongest seasons for Brenda and her crew
Deputy Chief Brenda Johnson (Kyra Sedgwick)has one of her most challenging cases when Detective Sanchez's (Raymond Cruz)younger brother Oscar is murdered. It's one of the stand out episodes of the fourth season of "The Closer" in a season full of stand out episodes. Although "The Closer" has always been exceptional the show took a leap to excellent with episodes like "Sudden Death" and the clever, amusing "Dial `M' For Provenza" where Lt. Provenza (G. W. Bailey)goes undercover posing as a hit man to snare a woman looking for someone to kill her husband. The pressure is also on as Fritz and Brenda find that her father is pushing them towards the altar just a bit earlier than they had planned. With a cast featuring J.K. Simmons ("Spider-Man), Corey Reynolds, Robert Gossett, Tony Denison, Jon Tenney, Michael Paul Chan, Gina Ravera, Phillip P. Keene and others it's hard to go wrong and with the top notch writing/direction on this show the actors have great material to work with...
Excellent and explosive season
Kyra Sedqwick is not only interesting, but slightly annoying (in a good way) in her role as Brenda Leigh Johnson. In one scene she can give us a performance full of drama lightened by the quirkiness of her character.

Season 4 of The Closer was excellent. It was full of change and of very good and well written episodes. The team came under fire from the press for what is and what is not called Priority Homicide. This leads to a major restructuring of the squad and a very interesting turn of events thanks to Brenda's quick thinking. The squad had to deal with their own problems: interpersonal relationships (Daniels and Gabriel) and one of them has to deal the loss of a loved one. Brenda's parents came for an episode and put Brenda and Fritz' relationship in the limelight. Just when are they going to get married?!

Brenda and Fritz also had to deal with moving to a new (temporary) place and with their relationship. The episodes of the closer were excellent coming to...
