Two Out Of Three Ain't Bad
This review is for the Blue Ray collection. Picture: Pristine. Sound: Great. Movies: I & II - Grand Entertainment. Universal successfully resuscitated it's venerable monster genre and transformed it into bigtime Tentpole event movies and produced two very good action adventure rides to take with the kids. III - Phoned in. Brendan collects huge paycheck and goes home. Rachel wisely stays away in the first place. Kid being groomed to carry on - the poor man's Shia (and I didn't think much of him either). Jet Li - stony and morose. Story is flat. Use of China as a backdrop - secondary and poorly executed (nothing new or breathtaking here). This truly is the sin - we're actually IN China for heaven's sake and there is no grand vista, no expansive shots to dazzle us with the landscape. In watching the nightclub scenes I kept expecting Kate Capshaw to step out and start singing - it's that derivative. Everything else is CGI. No overall quality to raise it to the level of the...
MUMMY: Trilogy.

I love the Mummy movies. A trilogy box set was perfect....as long as they don't make a fourth. After watching ' The Mummy; Tomb of the Dragon Emperor. they better not. The action was great in the aforementioned movie, the chemistry was not as good, and some of the acting weak....but hey it was still fun. If you love the Mummy movies and don't have them all, this is a great deal for the price.

Great deal for these movies - works in the US

This set appears to have been intended for sale in Europe - one of the ratings labels on the cover appears to be for the Irish Film Censor's Office. Being that I live in the US and was aware of the regional coding issues present with a lot of DVDs, I was a little nervous about buying this. I read up online about region coding on Blu-Rays and apparently it's used a lot less than in the DVD era and one source indicated that Universal doesn't region code their Blu-Rays at all.

I decided to try this set out due to the price difference between this version and the US labeled one. I use a PS3 for a Blu-Ray player and the discs work perfectly. I have a TON of language choices - I'll only use one, but that may be helpful to others out there. Other than that, absolutely no difference as far as the movie content and special features.

I'm glad I took the gamble.

Universal did a rather poor job with this Bluray release.
While everyone else has been waiting for AVATAR or LOTR (and yes I bought both of those and LOVE them), I've been holding my breath to watch DUNE in all its highdef glory. After watching this bluray disc, I feel like I've seen half of the film in HD and the other half in fair quality SD. I THINK I know what I'm talking about here . . . I saw this film 3 times in the original theatrical run, then bought the video tape in the Beta format, shortly thereafter replacing it with my first VHS copy of the film. Next came the LaserDisc (sadly a pan and scan version) then another vhs (from TV) of the "extended version". Shortly before the death of VHS, Universal released a Widescreen VHS version and then came the first, non-anamorphic DVD. Most recent is the steelbook anamorphic DVD release that also included the extended version as well as deleted scenes and short documentary materials. I still own them all and I'm happy to say that this new bluray release is the best DUNE has ever looked in a...
Why does it say David Lynch then Alan Smithee? I'll tell ya!
A beginning is a very delicate time. In 1984, the long awaited film version of Frank Herbert's epic novel Dune came to the silver screen. What happened next? The worst box office disaster in history! Sad to say it, but mostly everyone who saw Dune hated it except for the few who actually read the book! I've always loved this movie but if I ever said that in public I was usually beaten with large rocks or a baseball bat. This review isn't really about the story of the film or it's direction. Its about the confusing truth of their actually being two editions of the 1984 film version of dune.
Now here is where the entire true purpose to this review comes in. Many may wonder, "why was I watching this on Sci-Fi channel and the director was Alan Smithee instead of David Lynch?" Well little Jimmy, the answer is complicated. David Lynch knew when he made Dune he was in trouble and cut the film down incredibly to make it fit the desired time limit. Lynch was slightly pleased with this cut...
A long, long wait...and now that it's here...
...it makes me wonder what was taking them so long. I can only imagine that it was a legal issue.

Now that's it here, however, I am horrendously disappointed. The previous review claims that it's "remastered?" Well, the sound may have been "mixed" into a 5.1 sound field (and badly done at that), but the picture is still in the same horrific condition as the ORIGINAL DVD release.

You don't have to look any further then the Guild ship landing at the beginning of the movie. Look at the lower left-hand side of the screen and watch the inexplicable shadow artifacts that keep fading in and out...as if the original film were compromised. No, it's not one of those "oh, you really have to look close" things, either; it's actually annoyingly, painfully obvious!!

You don't even have to go THAT far to look for transfer problems!! Look at the Universal logo on the opening reel and "oooooo" and "ahhhhhh" at the dust specks and scratches on the film...

Review :
The Legacy continues!

I confess I am addicted to this series of movies, but this one is quite different as it delves into the science behind the agents in the 'Program'. Don't expect Jeremy Renner to replace Matt Damon, as this is not the intent. Renner is quite a good actor in his own right, and has risen in the ranks of action stars recently, most notably as 'Hawkeye' in the Avengers. The Bourne Legacy starts slow, but picks up tempo quite quickly as it intertwines with the plot of the Bourne Ultimatum. There is a great supporting cast including Edward Norton and Rachel Weisz. The car chase is replaced by motorcycles, but in all a great follow up to the previous three movies. If you liked them, this will not disappoint.

A clue for the 5th Bourne movie?

When the doctor (talented Academy Award winner Rachel Weisz) puts Aaron Cross (equally-excellent 2-time Academy Award nominee Jeremy Renner) "under" in order to perform medical tests on him, she asks him to count backwards from 100. Probably very few people realized that he said, "You are beautiful...ninety-nine...ninety-eight...ninety-seven...." IN RUSSIAN. When non-native speakers of a language have to "think arithmetic," they almost always revert to their native language. Hmm... Perhaps there is more to Aaron Cross than meets the eye???

A movie in search of a director
Other reviewers have already recounted much of the plot. So, I'll skip that and go to a critique of the production itself.

I gave this an overall rating of four stars because I found the movie to be interesting, engaging, with a good story and some really good action scenes. I found that I cared about the primary characters - Renner and Weisz. This tells me that the characters were fairly well developed and interesting

Renner's character, Aaron Cross, would have been more compelling if more of his backstory came out sooner, and if his pathetic origin were presented differently. I think Weisz' character could have used more backstory too - all I know about her is that she's an attractive scientist with a top secret clearance.

The story is really good. But this movie could have been a classic if the plot were tightened up and presented differently - too much dialogue where 'showing' instead of 'talking' would have got it across to the viewer better...

Fast and Furion 6 is even better than Fast 5.

Strangely Good..
Nightcrawler was an odd movie. I found it strange, yet strangely intriguing as well. Jake Gyllenhaal plays Lou Bloom, a bit of an odd duck who is trying to get a job. He's a bit of a loner and, while driving home one night, sees a wreck at the side of the road. A women is trapped inside a burning car while two police officers try to pull her from the vehicle before it explodes. Lou, for whatever reason, pulls over and gets out and just stands gawking at the scene. He doesn't offer to help and doesn't say anything to the police officers - just gawks and grins. (Like I said, he's a bit of an odd duck..) All of a sudden, a camera van pulls up onto the scene and two men jump out to film the rescue and wreckage. Jake seems in awe of them and asks one of the cameramen, Joe Loder (Bill Paxton), if he's hiring. Once Joe turns him down, Lou buys his own camcorder and police scanner, hires an "assistant", and starts shooting accidents himself. He begins to hone his skills while...
Hollywood Hatemail of the Highest Order
Hollywood has always had a complicated relationship with the news media, and in particular freelance photographers. Studios and celebrities need them, they use them, but they also absolutely f***ing hate them. They don't stop filming when you scream 'CUT!' They get pushy and they don't believe that 'private moments' exist for movie stars or rock bands or athletes. There's no doubt that they're morally objectionable, in a way that I could never even pretend to get indignant about with a straight face. WTF do I care about George Clooney's privacy? It makes his fairly comfortable existence less so, at times, but treating it like a social concern which needs to be addressed is laughable. Should it rate higher than homelessness? As far as 'problems that don't affect me personally, but still demand a furrowed brow' are concerned, the paparazzi don't come close to making the list. 'Nightcrawler' is a brilliant film, and it takes the disgust that most stars feel for the paparazzi and extends...
Are you hiring?

How the Hell does Jake Gyllenhaal turn in this kind of performance and get overlooked by the Academy??? This is the kind of disassociated acting that made DeNiro a star. We all know people like this and when we see people like this we turn our backs and walk away. Great storytelling and a tight screenplay (they don't always go hand-in-hand) surround this great performance. Compelling tale of a sociopath finding his niche and taking complete and utter control of his own situation. Movie has tons of suspense, even in situations where you wouldn't normally expect it. Also, a very jaded sense of humor pervades the entire movie. The overall effect is chilling. Excellent top to bottom.

The last few years have seen some classic films that have been given back their old lustre via restoration, including such films as, My Fair Lady, Vertigo, Lawrence Of Arabia to name just a few. These films as well as this film have been restored by the restoration mavericks Robert A. Harris, and James Katz.
I must say after seeing an advance copy of this film that Rear Window looks incredible, especially compared to the Laser Disc copy I have as well as the poor copies that have been showing up on television and VHS over the years.
The colors are vibrant, in particular the reds which don't give a hint of bleeding into the frame, and the image looks I imagine as close to the original as possible given the fact that this film is almost fifty years old now.
The aspect ratio is 1.66:1 which is the proper framing for this film, the sound is the original mono soundtrack and has been scrubbed up to remove any audio imperfections that have built up over the years.

One of the joys of Alfred Hitchcock films is his ability to take social taboos, present them in an enticing context, throw in major stars we know and love to perform them, and thus make abhorrent behavior seem attractive! 'Vertigo' is the best-known example of this Hitchcock trait ('Psycho' also comes to mind), but 'Rear Window' is the most fun to watch, because of the appealing combination of James Stewart and Grace Kelly!
Stewart is a photographer, laid-up while recuperating from an accident (cleverly shown through photographs in his studio), who, out of boredom, begins spying on his neighbors. Jimmy Stewart a 'Peeping Tom'? Only Hitchcock could get away with this!

Rear Window---Newly Restored DVD!!!!
The last few years have seen some classic films that have been given back their old lustre via restoration, including such films as, My Fair Lady, Vertigo, Lawrence Of Arabia to name just a few. These films as well as this film have been restored by the restoration mavericks Robert A. Harris, and James Katz.
I must say after seeing an advance copy of this film that Rear Window looks incredible, especially compared to the Laser Disc copy I have as well as the poor copies that have been showing up on television and VHS over the years.
The colors are vibrant, in particular the reds which don't give a hint of bleeding into the frame, and the image looks I imagine as close to the original as possible given the fact that this film is almost fifty years old now.
The aspect ratio is 1.66:1 which is the proper framing for this film, the sound is the original mono soundtrack and has been scrubbed up to remove any audio imperfections that have built up over the years.

This box set is legit. Not only boasting numerous hours of extra features, it includes the original film in both 2D and 3D bluray, Lost World in bluray and Jurassic III in bluray. The case includes slots for the upcoming bluray release of Jurassic World for both 2D and 3D. The digital copy is a nice touch as well. It allows you to sync the ultraviolet copy to a number of video streaming services such as VUDU and FLIXTER. It also allows you to add to your itunes library. Would highly recommend!

Lost World needs work.

Pretty decent. Nice package. The extra slots for Jurassic World is pretty cool. The transfer for Jurassic Park 2 was pretty bad though.
It just didn't look good compared to the other two.

In Search of VERTIGO.
Before Blu-ray, the very best home video version of Vertigo was the anamorphic DVD that Universal sold only as one of the 14 Hitchcock titles in the Masterpiece Collection. (I believe this collection also had the only anamorphic DVD version of Psycho.) It appears that Universal has released its Blu-ray version of Vertigo only as part of two collections: The Masterpiece and The Essentials collections.

I am glad that Universal has made Vertigo available in its far less expensive Essentials Blu-ray collection. In my opinion, Vertigo is not the greatest film ever made, but it is of special interest to me because of its San Francisco locations and overall Bay Area setting. Vertigo, along with Shadow of a Doubt and The Birds may also be of interest to Northern California natives. Anyway, here are my quality ratings of the 5 films contained in the Essentials Collection in order of their appeal:

1. North By Northwest: I have seen nearly every Hitchcock film and this one...
Hitch at the apex of his career
Though he was an undisputed genius of the cinema, not everyone needs the complete Hitchcock features. If you're a keen fan, they're available on DVD in large, rather expensive box sets: the 15-disc Masterpiece, nine-disc Signature, and eight-disc Premiere Collections (these don't include his "non-Hitchcockian" silent films and talkies from the 1920s and early 30s). But many Hitchcock lovers recall the five films on this reasonably-priced five-disc set most fondly, and they are without question among his finest achievements, all of them produced in Hollywood between 1954 and 1963.

Presented with a few interesting extras and options, the DVDs will do nicely for many folks -- though not for the angry Blu-ray aficionados who've given the box single-star ratings. This may come as a shock to them, but some people who are just discovering Hitch have ordinary DVD players and 32-inch TVs and are not planning to spend thousands to upgrade their collections or their equipment. I have just received this item. I already had owned all of these movies, all but one in the "Masterpiece" DVD collection, also offered by Universal. My reason to purchase the present set was to own "Vertigo" in the High Definition Blu Ray format. It is one of my favorite movies, and recently named the best of all time by the British Film Institute. Filmed in VistaVision, the large frame format would seem to provide an excellent substrate for high resolution images. Within a few minutes, it was obvious how wonderful this new Blu Ray transfer is, compared to the already excellent DVD version. The mosquito noise, seen on the DVD, has vanished, revealing absolutely crystal-clear images- one can read the license plates on most of the cars, and even the small newsprint Scotty is perusing, while eavesdropping on Kim Novak, as she leaves her apartment. Some critics have panned this new film from director and co-writer Joseph Kosinski, in this his second film ("TRON: Legacy"), as being highly derivative. But let's face it, how many films are so fresh and new that they delve into uncharted territory? In any case, don't care. Whether it's a drama, a comedy, a horror movie or even a romantic comedy, it's how well it is delivered that counts. And this film delivers.

Like "TRON" the film is visually arresting. Seen on a big screen, the sets are huge but sparse, drawing the audience in. Oblivion in IMAX (Blu-ray Update)
When I first saw a trailer for Oblivion, I felt like it was custom made for me. Then, last night, while watching it in IMAX,they started playing a Led Zeppelin song in the movie, I knew it was made for me. Oblivion was a mix of the greatest Sci-Fi already made and yet it was still unique in its own way. Other reviewers have said that the writing is better in the first half and that the movie becomes predictable or not as strong in the second half. I completely disagree. I felt like the script, while borrowing bits from other Sci-Fi, remained engaging and well-done through out the whole movie. If you see this movie in IMAX, in addition to being blown away by the incredible surround sound, you will actually see more of the picture than in a traditional theater. Entertaining Sci-fi Flick!

Oblivion wasn't a dynamic bang `em up, annihilate the universe sci-fi. It was steady, uncomplicated and extremely enjoyable. Cruise's performance is good (not a big fan of his, but he does have that charisma that is caught on film and makes it work extremely well). The premise was really good; the plot was a twist I did not even anticipate, but it was a really nice surprise for a sci-fi flick. The visuals and special effects are outstanding! Overall, it was an extremely enjoyable and entertaining Saturday night movie. For you sci-fi fans who need a fix, give this a look-see! Highly Recommend!

The film, truly an American classic and, for my money, one of the 10 best American films ever made, is splendidly rendered here with a mint-condition print. The DVD also offers a superb mix of additional features, most especially the remarkable documentary on the film, "Fearful Symmetry," by Charles Kiselyak, and compelling yet unassuming commentary by the director, Robert Mulligan, and the producer, the late Alan J. Pakula.

Like so many teachers, I've used the VHS version of "To Kill A Mockingbird" to teach the Elements of Literature to high school students.
Today, the internet has a wealth of resources to assist teachers and students using this classic adaptation of Harper Lee's novel. The documentary, "Fearful Symmetry" produced in 1998 to be included on this DVD Collector's Edition, is great resource for teachers, students and all those who love and have been touched by "Mockingbird."

I've got nothing but praise for this movie. Here we are, the seventh film in to a long running franchise and it just happens to be one of the best, one of the most unique and one of the most creative yet. Throughout the Fast and Furious series, the franchise has slowly grown from its humble beginnings as an undercover cop film that featured street racers and fast cars to something bigger and more bombastic with each new entry. No complaints from this guy either. I've loved the ride. Furious 7 to me is the most "blockbuster" film of the series to date. I honestly don't think this movie was any less exciting or "big" than any Marvel movie I've seen except for maybe Avengers and Winter Soldier. It was a huge movie, even more ambitious than the 6th which I thought was extremely ambitious in its own right. This has instantly become one of my favorites in the series easily on Par with #1 and #5 my other two favorites.

I just want to preface this review by stating I have been a fan of this series since it first came out and have kind of grown up as I watched it. I was 19 and in college with no responsibilities, single, and a care free life the first time I saw Fast and Furious. I am now 33 married and just had our second child. Given the themes of this movie, the evolution of the characters, only make this movie even more poignant.

The core of this series has always been about family, and the 7th film is no different. It truly takes the dramatic core of family and takes it to another level. As a person who has grown along with the series and watched the characters grow and have families in the movies, this movie truly emphasizes something in life that few action movies are able to stress, and that is Family. Heck of a ride! BEST Furious to date - great ending tribute
Best Furious to date - we watched this opening night, and have watched every one. This is the best one so far - great car scenes, death defying stunts, over the top villains and hot girls/cars/guys - what's not to love? This is a great guy movie - it is also a great girls night out movie, and a great date movie - it truly has something for everyone.

This has everything you expect from the Furious franchise, but an even bigger focus on family. The funny thing is, after watching this, it made me think a lot of the Disney animated movie Lilo & Stitch :).

I loved the addition of Kurt Russell, as well as Jason Statham, who plays pretty much the same character he always plays, just on the villain side this time.

Ever since I was a little kid I have been watching these movies. They inspire me to follow my dream as a mechanical engineer and work on cars. Certainly the jewel in the Tremors series of movies between 1990 and 2004 is the original. It's funny. It's scary. It's suspenseful. It's got a great cast. It's fun to watch! And this DVD release gives you the three follow-on sequels for almost the price you'd expect to spend for the original cult classic by itself.

In the original 1990 "Tremors", you have Kevin Bacon and Fred Ward as the leading characters. Their performance together is (almost) on par with John Travolta and Sam Jackson in Pulp Fiction; the dialogue between these guys is priceless. They truly come across as buddies for life.

The story is simple: a B-movie-esque scenario where giant man-eating subterranean monsters (big wormlike things called aptly named Graboids) start plucking man and animal from the surface in a remote desert town. Bacon and Ward are trapped by the underground beasts with little known Finn Carter and mercenary neighbors (Michael Gross) and his wife (Reba McEntire). The result...

PROS

- You get all 4 movies in one box, a great value at about ~$5 per movie!

- The first movie is the best but you'll probably also like the fourth (which is a prequel) and either the 2nd or 3rd if you haven't seen any of them yet.

- Inside is a coupon for $10.50 off a ticket to Peter Jackson's King Kong which opens in theaters 12-14-05 (valid until 1-1-06).

CONS

- Despite the claims on the packaging for 1.85:1 anamorphic widescreen, all four movies are presented in 1.78:1 NON-anamorphic widescreen. In fact, the video transfers are exactly the same as those on the previous DVDs.

- All 4 movies are on TWO discs - which of course means both discs are double-sided. ARGH. If you're not the type of person to handle optical discs carefully, forget buying this, you'll probably scratch everything up right away, no offense.

- To make matters worse for two double-sided discs, the DVD case Universal came up with is...

THE FILMS:
I'm sure that the majority of you have approached this release with some trepidation just as I have. Universal Studios has shown that it is completely unconcerned with the quality of its home video releases as long as they bring in a few bucks with a minimum of cost to the studio. The 2010 Blu-ray release of the original "Tremors" was a sad victim of this trend, with an appallingly filtered video transfer, decent audio and no new special features. Well, three years later, Universal has reissued the first film along with its three direct-to-video sequels. How does this release fare, you ask? As a seasoned fan of the "Tremors" franchise since the late nineties, I will attempt to shed some light on this issue. I assume that you have some knowledge as to the nature of the films in question so I'll spare you plot synopses.

Easily one of Studio Ghibli's most memorable works
Not many animated films can yield so many ideas so effortlessly: independence, melancholy, happiness, simplicity, dissatisfaction, and love. The Tale of the Princess Kaguya is hand-drawn in the finest sense; you can pretty much make an exquisite painting out of any frame in the film! Everything feels as delicate and precious as the title character herself. It sounds silly to suggest for a film so simplistically drawn, but it’s really worth getting on Blu-Ray. It’s the type of film that deserves the best output as possible. As of this writing, it remains to be seen what’s included as extras, but getting the movie itself is rewarding enough.

None of The Tale of the Princess Kaguya really pampers you on any level, and it certainly requires your sense of wonder to match its very own. I think this is one of the best films of all time.

It's a lovely version of a Japanese folk tale that's central to Japanese culture.

I think it's also probably somehow about the death of the director's baby sister, World War II, tsunamis, environmental destruction, and maybe everything else. If you look at it hard enough the right way, maybe everything that matters is in this film.

Every line of dialogue is necessary, lovely, natural and fresh.

Every character comes alive in the first two or three seconds of screen time.

The film is never anything but humble. If you want it to just be a cute kids' film, it can be a cute kids' film. If you try to screen Grave of the Fireflies for children under 12, you have to ask yourself if you should put the burden of seeing that film on children's innocent shoulders. A beautiful rendition of a classic tale.
This movie is studio ghibli's rendition of the classic japanese tale where a girl from the moon is raised by the family of a bamboo cutter and I must say that the work is a masterpiece. At first glance, it does not even look like a studio ghibli work because the art style is very traditional in contrast to the usual art style they use but I feel like it was beneficial to the film. It added to the overall aesthetic beauty of the film. You can tell that the makers put a lot of care and love to the making of the work. The music as well was astonishing and deserves praise. There isn't a lot of tracks but the very few that they use are gorgeous and really do strike a chord(No pun intended). I have always loved Curious George and this movie is a great addition to our DVD collection. In Back to the Jungle, George is selected for a space travel program. You'll follow him along on his adventures as he goes to space camp and learns the ropes of being an astronaut. Even though he gets into a few scraps along the way, and makes the Man in the Yellow Hat a little nervous, he makes it to take off. Of course, when its time to take off, George gets curious and messes with some things he shouldn't. This leads to a crash landing in Africa where he meets a bunch of new animal friends. While George enjoys his time in the jungle, he misses the Man in the Yellow Hat, whose out searching for him. Will the two be reunited? You'll have to watch to find out.

Another great Curious George film. My Son fell in love with Curious George while awaiting a heart transplant in the hospital three years age. He is 5 now and I think we have watched every single episode and movie a dozen times and he still loves them!!

an american animated classic
one of the nice things about having kids is taking them to the movies. and these two films, an american tail and feivel goes west were definite favorites. we had these two movies on vhs and wore them out. my kids are all teenagers now and probably not as interested in watching these kinds of films as they once were, but i really liked these two films a lot so i kind of bought them for myself! if you have seen them then you know how good they are. if not and you are searching for something good for your kids to watch, then i highly recommend. the story is about the experince of the immagrant coming to america, family and friendship, and the determination to persevere. the story and animation is top notch, on par with disney. many of the characters are voiced by popular actors, john cleese and dom deluise to name a few. this dvd contains both movies on one disc and even though it would have been nice to see them get the royal treatment that disney lavishes on their films, im still glad...
A VHS copied to DVD

This review is not about the movies. The movies are great. This review is specifically about the actual product. I want to make any buyer aware that this is not an actual DVD! It will not play in your DVD player like a DVD that allows you to skip through chapters, etc. You have to actually fast forward the movie to get through the credits like you would with a VHS. It's the actual VHS copied to a DVD. And, as a result the movies will not play on my computer not can you make your own digital copy of it. While this may not seem like a big deal to some people--in this day in age, it is a big deal to me. It's VERY important that manufacturers specify the exact format of the movies!!!

The truth is that America has as many cats as Russia did. Fivel gets seperated from his family, who believe that he died. Fivel spends the rest of the movie making new friends in America (including a cat). The first time I saw this movie, I fell in love with it. This is a truly family classic.

Fivel Goes West is one of those rare sequels that's just as good as the first movie--if not better. Fivel and his family head west for a simpler life. But there are cats in the west too.

10 minutes and 45 seconds of cartoons sold at the price of a full DVD movie!

My grandson wanted to see this as he loves Despicable Me and the minions. We thought this was going to be a lot of fun to watch with him. There are three cartoons on the disk and they are cute and hilarious. Then the fun stops!

Home Maker is 3 minutes and 52 seconds long.
Orientation Day is 3 minutes and 35 seconds long.
Banana is 3 minutes and 18 seconds long.

That does not include the credits after the cartoons or the commercials before the cartoons start. There are commercials to sell your children more movies that are longer than the minion cartoons. Universal should be embarrassed to sell something like this. It is titled as 3 MINI MOVIES and it should have been called 3 MICRO MOVIES.

There are some games on the disk that you can play with your DVD controller and but they are pretty bad. Save your money and don't get this. While it is cute it is not worth $1.34 per minute!

Rip Off!!!

This DVD is a ripoff!!! Universal is soooo greedy now!!! They should be ashamed of themselves. If you really want to watch these 3 mini cartoons, just lookem up on youtube, and watch them free.

Very cute but not worth the purchase price

Well, if you can find this for $2 or less, it may be worth it. The "shorts"--which you can hardly call "mini-movies" are cute and entertaining--BUT ALL THREE mini-movies TOGETHER run about a total of 12 minutes! I happened to find this at the grocery store for $6.99--and yes, I snatched it up without looking at the running time. It does say on the back in about 4 pt. font size that the running time is 12 minutes, but had I seen that, I would have assumed they meant each mini-movie was 12 minutes in length. My six year old daughter and three year old boy both love Despicable Me, (and so do I), so I only feel mildly ripped off... lol... we'll enjoy this, but usually if I'm putting on a DVD I expect to be able to sit back and relax for a while.

Positive message, age-appropriate language and content

As with all the Barbie titles, this movie has a very positive message, catchy music, and an uplifting story line. My 6-year-old loves it and enjoys singing along with the music. We have been disappointed with the values and language of other "name brand" movies aimed at this age group, but the Barbie series consistently delivers solid values and quality.
