The sequel to the 2012 sleeper hit horror movie. In the aftermath of the shocking events in “Sinister,” a protective mother (Shannyn Sossamon of “Wayward Pines”) and her 9-year-old twin sons (real-life brothers Robert and Dartanian Sloan) find themselves in a rural house marked for death as the evil spirit of Bughuul continues to spread with frightening intensity.

Review :
One of the few sequels that may actually be better than the original
Nine Things About the Film "Sinister 2"

1. This feverish experience is one of the best horror films of the year.

2. You don't have to see the first movie to see this one, but I highly recommend it. The context of the film won't make a lot of sense without it. And part of the intensity of this movie is because you know the secret, but the people in the movie don't.

3. It follows Deputy So & So after the events of the first film. Obsessed with stopping Bughuul, he comes across a woman with two sons who have unkowingly attracted the pagan deity. While the mother deals with her ex-husband, dead kids appear to one of the boys and show him snuff films in the basement (if the snuff films in the first movie bothered you, you should know that these are worse).

4. As with the first movie, the use of sound in this film is an experience in itself, expertly cutting together music and effects to heighten the hallucinatory nature of what's going...
Here There Be Scary $h!t
Creepy is the best and most appropriate word to describe this movie. I give it 4 stars not because it is an amazing movie, but because it is an amazing movie if you are sitting with the right person. My movie date gets very frightened and that makes this a blast! I have to admit a couple scenes made me jump as well. It is hard to get good movies in this genre, and so much is rehashed and repetitive. Not that different in this movie, but it is executed well, and it works.

Setting is excellent, a farm in Illinois, where I wouldn't dare set foot, and the two young actors as the twins do an admirable job.

Cast is decent:: James Ransone, Shannyn Sossamon, Robert Sloan, Dartanian Sloan and Lea Coco - but you will notice the missing star power of an Ethan Hawke.
Director: Ciaran Foy

Worth seeing, make sure to see it late at night.

A Decent Sequel, But Not Outstanding
I felt that this was a decent movie. It gave a little more insight as
to what was going on with those videotapes from part one and more
insight as to what the "Sinister" entity is all about. But if
definitely had some very slow parts too. Around the middle, I found
myself wanting the movie to pick up its pace. . I say that if you are a
huge fan of "Sinister" 1 like me, this may be an interesting addition
to the franchise, but if you are new to it or looking for something
really scary, you may want to rent this movie before buying it... The movie
was not that bad. It had some disturbing scenes, but I can't say that
it was awesome either.

Review :
Another great performance from Charlize Theron in DARK PLACES that's well worth a watch...
DARK PLACES is a drama/mystery about a poor Kansas City family who were murdered 30 years ago. There were two remaining members of that family; one was a girl (out of 3 girls and 1 boy) named "Libby Day" and the other was her brother, "Ben Day" who is serving a life sentence in prison for the murders.
I don't want to spoil the story for anyone because this movie is definitely worth a watch, in my opinion. As usual, Charlize Theron gives an outstanding performance as "Libby" who was a child when her family was killed and is now, 30 years later, still pretty directionless and immature.
There are lots of little sub-plots which also makes this film engrossing and the other actors in this movie play their parts to perfection, as well. This is an extremely well done film and I enjoyed watching every minute of it! I was really surprised that I'd never even heard of this movie. The only reason I didn't give this movie 5 stars is because I felt, at times, that...
Great movie. Would watch again. Twists and turns.
This was a good movie. I had never heard of it till I came a cross it while looking at new releases. I love horror or thrillers. This is a psychological thriller. I liked it very much. It is about a woman who's family was killed when she w as a child. She was the key witness against her brother who was jailed for the crimes. She has lead a hard life and gets roped in to investigating the crime. This movie has many twists and turns. Some are expected some are not. I thought Charliez Theron was a powerhouse like always. I would call it a mystery type movie. Those are hard to get right now days because most twist people have seen coming over and over. I think you'll like this if you give it a try.

Excellent
This movie is based on my least favorite Gillian Flynn novel, so my expectations were lower than for Gone Girl. Turns out this is every bit as good a movie as Gone Girl, if not better. The acting is incredible, not only by Charlize Theron, but by the entire cast. Because the book flashes back and forth in time and among points of view, I worried that the movie would not do the book justice and might make an already complicated story incomprehensible. However, the screenwriter handled this complex story beautifully. Even though I knew the outcome ahead of time, I was enthralled- glued to the screen by the riveting story and performances. Charlize Theron had my total sympathy as Libby Day, whereas I found Libby very hard to like when I read the book. The movie actually has me rethinking my original evaluation of the novel, and I think I’ll reread.

Hugh Jackman returns as The Wolverine and faces his ultimate nemesis in an action packed life-or-death battle that takes him to modern day Japan. Vulnerable for the first time and pushed to his limits, Logan confronts not only lethal samurai steel but also his inner struggle against his own immortality; an epic fight that will leave him forever changed.

In 2013's summer of superheroes, The Wolverine breaks a lot of rules of the genre and comes out a winner for the most unexpected of reasons. Both the movie and the man (make that super-man) are driven by vengeance, anger, and the existential angst of the whole "with great power comes great blah, blah, blah" thing. But The Wolverine has a sense of higher responsibility and a quietude that distinguishes it from the likes of Iron Man 3, Man of Steel, and even the numerous X-Men movies that forged its legacy. With Hugh Jackman reprising the role (for the sixth time) that made him a movie star, The Wolverine is the least like any of its predecessors for the way it prefers subdued tension and real dramatic buildup of character rather than all-out frenzied action. There are plenty of elegantly realized set pieces that make visual sense and have direct bearing on the story (not necessarily things that are a priority in other mega-budget actioners), but the moments of talk and gentler sense of introspection that director James Mangold carefully oversees are more important and equally as satisfying. The events of The Wolverine take place in the aftermath of 2006's X-Men: The Last Stand, with Wolverine/Logan's grief over the death of Jean Grey (Famke Janssen) still raw. He's become a hermit somewhere in the frozen north, still seething with inward rage. The appearance of a lethal Japanese pixie named Yukio (Rila Fukushima) distracts him with a message from an old friend who wants to say goodbye. He's whisked to an idealized, manga-inspired Japan where billionaire industrialist Yashida (Hal Yamanouchi) is about to pass on. Logan saved him near the end of World War II (a truly haunting sequence), a debt Yashida wishes to repay by relieving Logan of the curse of his immortality and the healing power of his adamantine bones (and claws). Mangold has cited numerous samurai films as inspiration, and The Wolverine stands out as a classic eastern western for the thematic elements it incorporates from Japanese cinema and the iconic American genre. The other important characters in this cunningly entertaining morality play are Yashida's beloved daughter Mariko (Tao Okamoto), who battles ethereal dream encounters with Jean Grey for Logan's heart, and his evil son Shingen (Hiroyuki Sanada). There's also Yashida's creepy, statuesque doctor, who we later get to know as Viper (Svetlana Khodchenkova), another mutant who may actually have the power to kill Wolverine. The story is loosely based on a popular Wolverine comic series from 1982 that sets the stage for all the mythical Japanese elements, including a final battle with a scary adamantine samurai warrior-bot. Another super-cool CGI action scene is set on top of a bullet train going top speed (believe it or not, Jackman's enormous, ripped, straining, hyper-vascularized pecs and neck were not computer-enhanced). The Wolverine is an unexpected success in the year's blockbuster field for action that is in service of the story and for a temperament that pays homage to samurai ronin legends as well as James Bond-style summer-movie joyousness. That it is 2013's least superhero-clichéd comic book fantasy is also high praise. And with The Wolverine still cursed with immortality, there will no doubt be more praises as the X-Men universe continues to expand (be sure not to look away before the credits are through). --Ted Fry

DIFFERENCES BETWEEN THE UNRATED CUT AND THE THEATRICAL CUT
The Unrated Cut runs about 12 minutes longer than the Theatrical Cut, and contains several new scenes including a much expanded ninja action scene. Wolverine drops a few more choice curse words and there is now CG-gore. I'd say it's more like a hard PG-13 rather than an R-rated cut.

The UNRATED Cut is much better than the theatrical cut.

**Note, SPOILERS follow, so read at your own risk**.

1) There is more gore, but primarily CGI blood sprays. Some shots of Wolverine's claws going through people's limbs, but nothing explicit. No graphic dismemberments.

2) Wolverine drops a few more f-bombs.

3) Some of the opening scenes depicting Wolverine at the POW camp are a little longer.

4) The scene involving Wolverine, an arrow, and the hunter is slightly longer and more brutal.

5) Slightly longer dialogue with Yukio on the way to the plane.

6) Relationship between Mariko and Yashida and Shingen and...

Film review: The Wolverine (2013)
Comparing "X-Men Origins: Wolverine" to "The Wolverine" is like comparing apples to oranges. They are both about Marvel's burly and animalistic Wolverine, but they could not be any more different. Origins seemed to explore a bit of Wolvie's past under the framework of the prior X-Men movies (i.e. familiar characters, settings, and themes), but unfortunately it didn't hit home like the prior X-Men films. The writing fell flat, because 20th Century Fox took odd twists and turns with fan favorites like Gambit and Deadpool and then never expanded on them in future films like they promised. Instead of bridging Wolverine's backstory to the acclaimed X-Men trilogy, Fox ended up widening the gap.

However, "The Wolverine," takes an entirely different approach to the eponymous character. Audiences get to see the Adamantium and claws stripped away in a more emotionally driven film. Wolverine is facing an existential crisis. Following the events of "X-Men: The Last Stand"...

Captain Phillips is a multi-layered examination of the 2009 hijacking of the U.S. container ship Maersk Alabama by a crew of Somali pirates. Based on a true story, the film focuses on the Alabama’s commanding officer, Captain Richard Phillips (two-time Academy Award®-winner Tom Hanks, Best Actor, 1993, Philadelphia; Best Actor, 1994, Forrest Gump), and the Somali pirate captain, Muse (Barkhad Abdi), who takes him hostage. The two men are set on an unstoppable collision course when Muse and his crew target Phillips’ unarmed ship; in the ensuing standoff, both men will find themselves at the mercy of forces beyond their control.

Review :
A well-crafted, tense docu-drama centered around a clash of wills
Paul Greengrass' Captain Phillips is the story of a 2009 incident that most people probably still remember, when a group of Somali pirates boarded an American cargo freighter, the Maersk Alabama, and after failing to gain control of the ship, took its captain, Richard Phillips, hostage, resulting in the US Navy mounting an intense rescue operation to recover Captain Phillips. Directed by Greengrass (United 93, The Bourne Ultimatum) from a script by Billy Ray (Breach, The Hunger Games) based on a book written by Phillips and Stephan Talty about the incident, Captain Phillips is a well-crafted, tense docu-drama that captures the intensity of the events as they played out, from the moment the Maersk Alabama first sees the approaching pirate crafts to the moment when Navy Seals make their assault, ending the situation with deadly finality and the successful rescue.

More than anything else, the core of Captain Phillips is the contest of wills that takes place between Phillips (a...
A truly powerful movie
I really underestimated this movie. I was not inclined to rent it, but I'm glad I did. The acting was superb; Hanks definitely gave an Oscar worthy performance, and the pirate captain was very convincing in his mixed emotions as things didn't go as planned. The script was riveting, leaving me at the edge of my seat the entire time.

Apparently, some of those who gave the movie only one star due to their perception of a ridiculous premise -- an unarmed crew with the captain shooting flares at the pirates -- don't realize the movie was based on actual events, that this was how the captain tried to defend his ship.

I also liked the fact that the piracy of an impoverished nation stemmed largely from the fact that fishing conglomerates had wiped out the fishing industry of Somalia, an important reminder of the damage our industries often impose on the economies
of other countries.

Would I recommend this movie? Absolutely, a truly worthy movie in terms...
Phenomenal
One word, "Phenomenal" I could literally stop this review right there! I was invited to the first screening of the movie in Tampa and after having watched the trailer I knew for sure this was a movie I didn't want to miss. I accepted the invite and printed my tickets and informed friends of the screening so they could get theirs and then we waited for the day to arrive. In the meantime I began to research the story of the MV Maersk Alabama and the related hijackings.

First let me say this movie is a true story and seemed to match the details of the original story very accurately as it was based on the book "A Captain's Duty" penned by the man Richard Phillips himself and the screenplay was adapted from his book by Billy Ray.

The story begins introducing us to Captain Richard "Rich" Phillips and humanizes him through a discussion with his wife about their children. Within a few minutes, we're taken to a small village in Somalia where a band thugs arrives to...

The Bourne Legacy takes the action-packed Bourne series to an explosive new level. On the verge of having their conspiracy exposed, members of the government's intelligence community will stop at nothing to erase all evidence of their top secret programs - even the agents involved. Aaron Cross (Jeremy Renner) must use his genetically-engineered skills to survive the ultimate game of cat-and-mouse and finish what Jason Bourne started. Review :
The Legacy continues!
I confess I am addicted to this series of movies, but this one is quite different as it delves into the science behind the agents in the 'Program'. Don't expect Jeremy Renner to replace Matt Damon, as this is not the intent. Renner is quite a good actor in his own right, and has risen in the ranks of action stars recently, most notably as 'Hawkeye' in the Avengers. The Bourne Legacy starts slow, but picks up tempo quite quickly as it intertwines with the plot of the Bourne Ultimatum. There is a great supporting cast including Edward Norton and Rachel Weisz. The car chase is replaced by motorcycles, but in all a great follow up to the previous three movies. If you liked them, this will not disappoint.

A clue for the 5th Bourne movie?
When the doctor (talented Academy Award winner Rachel Weisz) puts Aaron Cross (equally-excellent 2-time Academy Award nominee Jeremy Renner) "under" in order to perform medical tests on him, she asks him to count backwards from 100. Probably very few people realized that he said, "You are beautiful...ninety-nine...ninety-eight...ninety-seven...." IN RUSSIAN. When non-native speakers of a language have to "think arithmetic," they almost always revert to their native language. Hmm... Perhaps there is more to Aaron Cross than meets the eye???

A movie in search of a director
Other reviewers have already recounted much of the plot. So, I'll skip that and go to a critique of the production itself.

I gave this an overall rating of four stars because I found the movie to be interesting, engaging, with a good story and some really good action scenes. I found that I cared about the primary characters - Renner and Weisz. This tells me that the characters were fairly well developed and interesting

Renner's character, Aaron Cross, would have been more compelling if more of his backstory came out sooner, and if his pathetic origin were presented differently. I think Weisz' character could have used more backstory too - all I know about her is that she's an attractive scientist with a top secret clearance.

The story is really good. But this movie could have been a classic if the plot were tightened up and presented differently - too much dialogue where 'showing' instead of 'talking' would have got it across to the viewer better...

Legendary director Ridley Scott (Alien, Blade Runner) returns to his sci-fi origins in this epic adventure bursting with spectacular action and mind-blowing visual effects. A team of scientists and explorers travels to the darkest corners of the universe searching for the origins of human life. Instead they find a dark, twisted world that hides a terrifying threat capable of destroying them...and all mankind! You want an alien world created anew, with wonders and horrors lurking in its furrows? You go to Ridley Scott, of course, spectacle maker and pictorialist par excellence. So Prometheus is bound to be eye filling, with fully wrought planetary vistas and occasionally jaw-dropping visual coups. And did we use the word alien back there? Yes, folks, Prometheus is a prequel, in a sideways sort of fashion, to Scott's 1979 Alien original--or at least it's a long-distant stage setter for that story. This one begins with a space mission that could reveal the extraterrestrial roots of Earth, although what's buried out on the planet turns out to be much more complicated than expected. In the midst of suspenseful episodes (and a few contrived plot turns), Prometheus reaches for Big Answers to Big Questions, in a grand old sci-fi tradition. This lends the movie a hint of metaphysical energy, even if Scott's reach extends well, well beyond his grasp. The hokier moments are carried off with brio by Michael Fassbender (the robot on board), Charlize Theron, and Idris Elba, and then you've got Noomi Rapace entering the badass hall of fame for a long, oh-no-they-didn't sequence involving radical surgery, which might just induce the vapors in a few viewers. Even if Prometheus has its holes, the sheer size of the thing is exciting to be around. Because this movie is gigantic. --Robert Horton.

A team of scientists journey through the universe on the spaceship "Prometheus" on a voyage to investigate Alien life forms. The team of scientists becomes stranded on an Alien world, and as they struggle to survive it becomes clear that the horrors they experience are not just a threat to themselves, but to all of mankind. - WellardRockard

Born in Sweden, Rapace is the daughter of Flamenco singer Rogelio Duran.

Shaw, an archaeologist, discovers a clue to the origins of mankind on Earth, leading her and a team of scientists and explorers on a thrilling journey, aboard the spaceship Prometheus, to the darkest corners of the universe. There, they must fight a terrifying battle to save the future of the human race. Michael Fassbender as David enjoyed a phenomenal run of critically acclaimed performances in 2011 and 2012, garnering numerous accolades and awards. The National Board of Review awarded Fassbender the Spotlight Award, and the Los Angeles Film Critics Association named him Best Actor for his performances in Shame and Davide Cronenberg’s drama A Dangerous Method, in which Fassbender plays Carl Jung opposite Keira Knightley and Viggo Mortensen. Fassbender was also recently seen in Matthew Vaughn’s X-Men: First Class, as Erik Lehnsherr, better known as super-villain Magneto; as Rochester in Cary Joji Fukunaga’s Jane Eyre; and as an assassin opposite Ewan McGregor and Gina Carano in Steven Soderbergh’s Haywire. Fassbender is a graduate of London's prestigious Drama Centre. His breakthrough role came as Sgt. Burton "Pat" Christenson in HBO's epic, award-winning miniseries Band of Brothers.

David is an android creation of Weyland Industries. While David possesses extraordinary intelligence and other capabilities, his principal tasks aboard the Prometheus are servile. David is however far more “human” than one might expect of a synthetic person. He is jealous and arrogant because he realizes that his knowledge is all-encompassing and therefore he is superior to the human crew members. David’s allegiances are unclear, and he can be very bold in the decisions he makes.
    Charlize Theron as Meredith Vickers
    Meredith Vickers View larger
Charlize Theron as Meredith Vickers demands the audience’s full attention as soon as she appears on screen. This South African captivated audiences as female serial killer Aileen Wuornos in the independent gem Monster. Charlize’s feature film debut was MGM’s 2 Days in the Valley, with Jeff Daniels. In 2001, Theron starred in the Warner Bros. tearjerker Sweet November alongside Keanu Reeves, as well as in Woody Allen’s Curse of the Jade Scorpion. In 2002 Theron starred opposite Patrick Swayze and Billy Bob Thornton in Waking Up in Reno, and opposite Kevin Bacon, Courtney Love, and Dakota Fanning in the feature film Trapped, directed by Luis Mandoki.

Vickers is a “suit” representing the interests of the mega-corporation funding the Prometheus’ journey to a distant, foreboding world. Her perspective on the mission is at odds with the rest of the crew’s. For Vickers, this epic, two-year journey to a distant planet has been boiled down to economics. But as with so much else about the mission, there are deeper layers and mysteries to Vickers’ ultimate goals.

4-Disc Collector's Edition Analysis
I'm reviewing the 4-Disc Collector's Edition. I'll go through each disc individually to give you an idea of what you'll be getting, and which version you should purchase. But first, let's briefly discuss the movie itself.

If you haven't seen the film yet, you're still probably aware of the polarized reception it received. Some love it, some hate it. Instead of giving you another opinion on why it's the best/worst film ever, let me tell you what to expect. PROMETHEUS is not a horror film. Certainly it has structural similarities to ALIEN, and there is one scene that I would consider very "stressful." But overall, the film is what I would classify as a "concept drama." That is, a drama that doesn't focus on characters, but rather on concept. Don't let any of the tense trailers fool you, this movie was meant as a discussion piece, not an adrenaline rush. You can decide whether it succeeds or fails when you watch it yourself.

Onto the discs...
So much promise ruined by such slapdash writing!
The Good:
-There have been various opinions about the special effects. Personally, I thought the visuals and soundtrack were awesome. They definitely made me favorably disposed towards this film.
-Michael Fassbender is spellbinding.

The Bad:
The main problem with the entire film is that nobody (other than Michael Fassbender) has any plausible motivation for the majority of their behavior. As a result the entire movie is basically just an exercise in convenience, much like your modern B-movie horror flick.

No Movie For Young Men
I can see why some people would have a problem with this movie. It is a violent, brooding movie with an ending that will have you saying, "That's it?". Plus, several scenes end without showing what happens to the characters, leaving the audience to guess what may or may not have occurred. I think it is important to remember that this is an adapted screenplay from a Cormac McCarthy novel. I read the book shortly after seeing this film and feel that the Coen brothers did a very good job. Except for excluding a couple of chapters, the film follows the book almost exactly. So, if you feel that this movie is entirely the Coen brother's fault you better think again. Some blame has to go to the source material.

Personally, I love movies like this. Movies where everything is not tied together nicely, where the good guy doesn't always succeed, and where the traditional rules of Hollywood are broken. If you expect a movie where the good guy vanquishes the bad guy in a...
'To this we've come'
Cormac McCarthy's novel NO COUNTRY FOR OLD MEN has been successfully transformed into a film in the skilled hands of Ethan and Joel Coen. The story is intact, the characters are given the dialog so uniquely McCarthy's invention, and the horror of the message of the book - that we have come to a point in time when crime, especially random murder, surrounds our lives - is, if anything, even more pungent than on the pages of the book. It is an amazing, and a highly disturbing movie, and while this viewer is one of the few who does not believe it deserved the Oscar for Best Picture, there is little doubt that it is a brilliant piece of cinema.

The story is fairly simple: on the raw plains of Texas a slaughter of men and dogs engaged in a drug deal is discovered by a simple guy Llewelyn Moss (Josh Brolin). Moss observes the mayhem, sees the drugs, finds the 2 million dollar payoff money, takes the money, and embarks on an escape, leaving his wife Carla (Kelly Macdonald) to...
The 2-Disc Collector's Edition on Blu-ray is the definitive version to own!
Violent, dark, gripping and an off-humor tone that is like no other. `NO COUNTRY FOR OLD MEN' is indeed a Coen Brothers masterpiece!

The film is possibly the most ambitious film from the Award winning filmmakers, Joel and Ethan Coen ("Fargo", "The Big Lebowski", "O Brother, Where Art Thou?", "Raising Arizona") based on the 2005 novel by Pulitzer Prize-winning author Cormac McCarthy. "NO COUNTRY FOR OLD MEN" was nominated for eight Academy Awards and won four which include "Best Achievement in Directing", "Best Motion Picture of the Year", "Best Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role" and "Best Writing, Screenplay Based on Material Previously Produced or Published".

"NO COUNTRY FOR OLD MEN" makes its re-appearance on Blu-ray with a new audio track, five hours of bonus footage and a digital copy.

Finding a group of freelance camera crews who film crashes, fires, murder and other mayhem, Lou muscles into the cut-throat, dangerous realm of nightcrawling - where each police siren wail equals a possible windfall and victims are converted into dollars and cents. Review :
Strangely Good..
Nightcrawler was an odd movie. I found it strange, yet strangely intriguing as well. Jake Gyllenhaal plays Lou Bloom, a bit of an odd duck who is trying to get a job. He's a bit of a loner and, while driving home one night, sees a wreck at the side of the road. A women is trapped inside a burning car while two police officers try to pull her from the vehicle before it explodes. Lou, for whatever reason, pulls over and gets out and just stands gawking at the scene. He doesn't offer to help and doesn't say anything to the police officers - just gawks and grins. (Like I said, he's a bit of an odd duck..) All of a sudden, a camera van pulls up onto the scene and two men jump out to film the rescue and wreckage. Jake seems in awe of them and asks one of the cameramen, Joe Loder (Bill Paxton), if he's hiring. Once Joe turns him down, Lou buys his own camcorder and police scanner, hires an "assistant", and starts shooting accidents himself. He begins to hone his skills while...
Hollywood Hatemail of the Highest Order
Hollywood has always had a complicated relationship with the news media, and in particular freelance photographers. Studios and celebrities need them, they use them, but they also absolutely f***ing hate them. They don't stop filming when you scream 'CUT!' They get pushy and they don't believe that 'private moments' exist for movie stars or rock bands or athletes. There's no doubt that they're morally objectionable, in a way that I could never even pretend to get indignant about with a straight face. WTF do I care about George Clooney's privacy? It makes his fairly comfortable existence less so, at times, but treating it like a social concern which needs to be addressed is laughable. Should it rate higher than homelessness? As far as 'problems that don't affect me personally, but still demand a furrowed brow' are concerned, the paparazzi don't come close to making the list. 'Nightcrawler' is a brilliant film, and it takes the disgust that most stars feel for the paparazzi and extends...
Are you hiring?
How the Hell does Jake Gyllenhaal turn in this kind of performance and get overlooked by the Academy??? This is the kind of disassociated acting that made DeNiro a star. We all know people like this and when we see people like this we turn our backs and walk away. Great storytelling and a tight screenplay (they don't always go hand-in-hand) surround this great performance. Compelling tale of a sociopath finding his niche and taking complete and utter control of his own situation. Movie has tons of suspense, even in situations where you wouldn't normally expect it. Also, a very jaded sense of humor pervades the entire movie. The overall effect is chilling. Excellent top to bottom.

A Movie That Asks You To Think ... Just Not Too Hard
I don't mind brainless sci-fi. Sometimes it's nice just to have something cool to look at for awhile. Also, I have no problem with movies that moralize. It's great to question things, propose new ideas, or just point at injustices in the hopes of raising awareness. I DO, however, have a problem when a movie ends up being both, especially since a lot of the time it ends up accidentally trivializing something I usually already care about. Case in point: Elysium.

The story concerns Max, a reformed criminal who lives in a futuristic, devastated Los Angeles. The world, ravaged by pollution and overpopulation, is now filled with nothing but the poor and lower classes. If you're lucky, like Max, you have a job. In his case, he works for Armadyne, the company that produces the robots that police and monitor the world. All of the wealthiest people in the world, meanwhile, have created Elysium, a utopian space colony in orbit high above Earth, where they live in unbelievably...
A movie worth owning
Normally, I don't like movies with Matt Damon but this time I think he did a fine job. I didn't really see Matt Damon, and Jodie Foster played her character just as well. But I really watch it for Sharlto Copley (Kruger), he is such a great actor and brings such a unique feel to his characters. The theme of the movie is great, especially when you don't take the message as a personal attack to whatever your current political beliefs may be. The gap between the havs and have nots is an issue that has been around as long as civilization has, even who has access to better doctors and health care. This is not just modern day problem but one that will be with us for a long time yet, but regardless stories like this should be made and the theme just brings it closer to home, maybe helping you identify with the characters.

Also I think it goes without saying that the visual presentation of this movie is incredible. The work that went into the details makes it so believable, as if...
Damonysium Baby
Not quite 5-stars but it's ambitious, fast, thrilling and at times fantastic.

The visuals deliver the goods, just amazing, with a tip of the hat to the gritty look and feel of District 9. Also, and this is key, the fight and action scenes are intense and immersive. You feel like you are in them as you watch.

The plot is the classic Hollywood story split, and suspension of disbelief is a must to get the full ride from this movie. Part of the story takes place on Elysium , a highly secure, space habitat for the rich and wealthy. The other part of the story takes place on a wild and hairy 2154 Earth A.D. These stories evolve on their own and then merge to get the sparks flying.

The acting is solid as you would expect. Everyone gives pretty tight performances that help make the movie that much more entertaining.

In all, good sci-fi entertainment, that does what good sci-fi does: use the future to make you think about the present. It's a solid...

Capitol Policeman John Cale (Channing Tatum) has just been denied his dream job with the Secret Service of protecting President James Sawyer (Jamie Foxx). Not wanting to let down his little girl with the news, he takes her on a tour of the White House, when the complex is overtaken by a heavily armed paramilitary group. Now, with the nation’s government falling into chaos and time running out, it's up to Cale to save the president, his daughter, and the country. Now this is what we want in a President of the United States: wisdom, humor, and the ability to wield a rocket launcher while hanging out of a limousine traveling at high speed. Welcome to the giddy world of White House Down, Roland Emmerich's absurd but hugely enjoyable thriller, in which President Jamie Foxx and other members of the government are taken hostage in a nefarious plot. Only security guy Channing Tatum, who happens to be on the White House tour with his daughter while the assault happens, stands in the way of disaster. Emmerich's weakness for glib one-liners coming right after mass destruction remains intact, and this movie is not great art. But it's genuinely suspenseful for much of its 130-minute running time, and Foxx and Tatum appear to be having good fun. The rest of the cast is impressively credentialed, too, including Maggie Gyllenhaal and James Woods as Secret Service veterans and Richard Jenkins as the Speaker of the House. Released a few months after Olympus Has Fallen, a film with a very similar plot, White House Down didn't connect with audiences. Seriously, folks. If it wasn't incredibly obvious from the previews this is another PG-13 Die Hard with a different protagonist. It's got all the hilarious quotable quips, loud explosions, elevator climbing, crashing, bullet-flying, popcorn action you'd expect. It's smartly written, well-acted, and entertaining from beginning to end. Is it ridiculous? Absolutely. Is it silly? Very. It's absolutely what you want and expect from a Die Hard movie. It's also the most likable Channing Tatum and Jamie Foxx have ever been in my opinion (yes, I actually sat through Step Up, She's the Man, Ray, and Stealth, slightly more traumatized with each new film).

If you are expecting Independence Day or Stargate levels of over-the-top sci-fi battle-royale-with-cheese you will be disappointed. If you just want a rollicking good time with a Die Hard flick set in the White House you're probably going to love this movie. I went to see this movie with my husband and was pleasantly surprised. Although I like both of these actors, action films with political themes do not usually hold my interest...however, this film kept moving, kept twisting and turning...held my interest to the end. I know that some of the situations were a little far fetched, but who cares? I wanted to see something that would take my mind off of everyday situations and this film did just that! It had comedy, suspense, and action...I sooooo enjoyed this movie and will buy it on the release date.

Not an Oscar movie & a little predictable but very exciting and fun. Foxx & Tatum have great chemistry. I loved it. I say A-

If you are expecting Independence Day or Stargate levels of over-the-top sci-fi battle-royale-with-cheese you will be disappointed. If you just want a rollicking good time with a Die Hard flick set in the White House you're probably going to love this movie. It doesn't have a SINGLE annoying character and I actually laughed at the...
Very Entertaining

I loved it. I say A-
"I can't think of a more important job then protecting the President." John Cale (Tatum) is a policeman working in Washington D.C. Trying to reconnect with his young daughter he brings her with him to the White House for his interview with the Secret Service. While there they meet the President (Foxx) and she is having the best day. When a group attacks the White House and goes after the President the only person who is able to help is Cale. Now he has to try and protect both the President and get his daughter out safely. I was pretty excited about seeing this. I am a big Jamie Foxx fan, but I was leery of Tatum (not a fan). I will admit that the chemistry between them was very good and the movie had some very funny parts in this as well as wall to wall action. This is the latest movie in Hollywood's "I can do it better" series. Other movies in this club are Deep Impact & Armageddon, Illusionist & Prestige, movies with the same idea coming out close to each other. While Olympus Has...

Review :
A Hard-Hitting, Gritty, Emotional Family Crime Thriller with Plenty of Heart and Raw Action
This was by far one of the few movies I've seen in recent months that I absolutely enjoyed every minute of in theaters - to my utmost surprise. It is Liam Neeson's best action movie in a very long time - and blows the socks off any of the garbage "Taken 2/3" Hollywood cash-grab sequels that are purely for money. Yes this does have some awesome action/chase/fight scenes, but at heart this is definitely not a "Taken" film - this is a hard-hitting raw family drama similar to Warrior with all the grit and raw street-ugliness of NARC (and then some). It's a mile-a-minute thrill ride shot brilliantly and has plenty of heart. You really do feel like you are watching these characters and this world Run All Night. Tone-wise, this film is perfect and I couldn't have asked for a more appropriate and darker-looking treatment. The cinematography, the film palette, the raw look and feel just made this all the more serious to watch - excellent. Acting was stellar and relationships...
An effective, old-school action flick imbued with intelligence
Theatrical review. There may be spoilers. While aging movie stars making action movies is nothing new, perhaps no one has been more visible than 62 year old Liam Neeson ("Taken" trilogy, "A Walk Among the Tombstones," "Non-Stop," "Unknown" and others). Here Neeson reunites with director Jaume Collet-Serra ("Non-Stop" and "Unknown) in what may be his best yet.

Neeson plays Jimmy Conlon, a broken-down, drunken hit man for Shawn Maguire (Ed Harris) the head of a NYC mob faction. Maguire, while still shady, is trying to go a bit legit. Jimmy isn't getting anything to do, but his old buddy Shawn feels sorry for him so throws him a bone now and then. Shawn's son Danny (Boyd Holbrook, who also worked with Neeson in "A Walk Among the Tombstones"), is still wanting to do some serious crime and invites some Albanian heroin traffickers to meet with dear old dad in order to pave the way for the drugs being introduced to the city pipeline. But Shawn wants no part of the drug...
Dont expect any heroes nor winners in this one...
Run All Night (2015) is a non-stop-action drama along the lines of Cold in July (2014) meets any of the action packed Liam Neeson films like: Taken trilogy, Non-Stop (2014), or Unknown (2011). Together with A Walk Among the Tombstones (2014) this must be my favorite film with Neeson to this day. I did like him in Unknown (2011), the original Taken (2008), The Grey (2011), and in the Five Minutes of Heaven (2009), but it is with the character of Jimmy Conlon at the age of 63 that Neeson made the biggest impression on me so far. In the film, Neeson portrays an over-the-hill ex-trigger man for an Irish-American mobster gone legit played by Ed Harris (something similar Harris played in the film History of Violence in 2005). Conlon is a washed-up alcoholic with no real friends and money, who keeps hanging around Shawn McGuire (Harris) and his family, because his own son does not want to know him. But when certain unforeseen circumstances occur, and Conlon's son becomes unintentionally...

Review :
THIS YEAR'S SLEEPER
I was taken in by the opening credits as an outline of a brain turns into a city. I am a big sucker for that microcosm/ macrocosm stuff.

Edward has writer's block. He has a book contract for some reason, yet hasn't written a word. His girlfriend, who was his meal ticket leaves him. Bummed out he decides to go live on a bunk bed at Dad's place in New Jersey, but then bumps into his ex-brother-in-law, who is a drug dealer. He offers Edward a pill that increases a person's use of their brain. They can recall everything they have seen or read and can correlate it to increase intelligence. The smarter a person is to begin with, the more data they have to work with. Edward is a smart guy to begin with, so he is able to start his book. The downside is that the pill wears off. Not only does one lose the abilities, but they get a little ADD, and throw up like a heroin addict. Too much of the pill causes a Mr. Hyde type of character including blackouts. Edward's supplier is murdered...
Must see for action junkies!!!
When we watched the preview we were drawn in by the action and with Bradley Cooper and Robert De Niro we figured it had to be good. We really liked the storyline and how Bradley Cooper uses being limitless to maximize his potential and with De Niro as the bad guy it just clicks, especially with the chemistry these guys have. This movie is filled with twists and turns over a pill that lets Cooper use 100% of his brain and of course what will happen when the pills run out? This movie definitely delivered on our expectations and if you like action movies it should exceed yours as well......

Unique Plot & Entertaining
A blocked writer (played by Bradley Cooper) with average intelligence and a very low drive for success comes into possession of an unreleased drug that makes him a super genius. The movie's premise is that we only use a very small percentage of our brains, and the drug gets the body to use 100% of the brain.

In the movie, the writer only has a limited supply of the drug with no way to get more. The plot thickens since the drug has side effects and others are after his supply.

If I could give half stars, I'd give this movie a 4 1/2. It was very good, and definitely worth seeing, but there have been some movies more deserving of the full 5 stars. Still, this movie has a lot going for it. Here what's good:

1. The premise of this movie is unique. It's a great fantasy. Who wouldn't want that level of smarts. He's able to protect himself, make a killing on Wall Street and even impress women by ordering dinner speaking Italian. Just pop a pill and you're able...

Review :
The digital copy is a nice touch as well
This box set is legit. Not only boasting numerous hours of extra features, it includes the original film in both 2D and 3D bluray, Lost World in bluray and Jurassic III in bluray. The case includes slots for the upcoming bluray release of Jurassic World for both 2D and 3D. The digital copy is a nice touch as well. It allows you to sync the ultraviolet copy to a number of video streaming services such as VUDU and FLIXTER. It also allows you to add to your itunes library. Would highly recommend!

Lost World needs work.
Pretty decent. Nice package. The extra slots for Jurassic World is pretty cool. The transfer for Jurassic Park 2 was pretty bad though.
It just didn't look good compared to the other two.

Great Set!!!
Nice set love it great movies all put into one set it's also nice that they include slots for Jurassic World so that its a complete set great special features and sound is amazing if your a Jurassic Park fan or just a dinosaur fan you will love this set can't wait for Jurassic World!!!

A DISGRACED MEMBER OF THE MILITARY POLICE INVESTIGATES A SERIES OF NASTY CHILD MURDERS DURING THE STALIN-ERA SOVIET UNION.

Review :
Not What You Think It Is....
I'm an old, harden guy. Nothing bothers me anymore. For me, the more intense the better. When I watched this film, I was thinking it was a rip off of HBO's Citizen's X. Let me just say that the end of the movie had me crying like a baby. I really wasn't ready for that. Advice? Watch Citizen X first...get an idea about the history. Then watch this one. So well done...so well acted...and the end will leave tears in your eyes.

CHILD 44 is a chilling story about a child killer on the loose in Russia in the 50's.
Excellent film about a child killer on the loose in Russia. The actors were brilliant, the cinematography dark and foreboding as the plot of the story and the writing superior, as well. I would recommend CHILD 44 to anyone, especially those with an interest in crime stories; fiction and non-fiction, as an earlier movie that also took place in Russia about another serial killer named Andre Chikitillo who killed over 50 people during the 80's and 90's, called CITIZEN X.
I didn't really know what to expect when I ordered this movie, but I'm now very glad that I did because it was an excellent film.

Parts Better Than the Whole
Based on Tom Rob Smith’s 2008 novel of the same title, “Child 44” follows the story of Leo Demidov (Tom Hardy), a dutiful MGB (Ministry for State Security) officer and his wife Raisa Demidova (Noomi Rapace) under Stalin’s rule. Leo’s faith to the nation is severely tested when the mutilated body of the son of Leo’s old friend is found. Because “there is no murder in paradise,” however, the case is hushed up.

Later on, Leo, disgraced and sidelined, starts investigating the case that could be done by a serial killer. General Nesterov (Gary Oldman) is helpful, but Leo has to be very careful because in uncovering the truths he has to deal with not only the murderer, but the Soviet bureaucracy represented by a sneaky officer Vasili Nikitin (Joel Kinnaman). Paddy Considine, Jason Clarke, and Vincent Cassel also appear.

Written by Richard Price (“The Color of Money” “Sea of Love”), the script of...
