Seven years of peace have passed since the defeat of the monstrous Cell, and the Z-Fighters have enjoyed a return to normal life. Goku has eagerly continued his training in Other World, Krillin has gotten married, and Gohan has renewed his scholarly pursuits while attempting to navigate the pitfalls of high school. Two fresh new Saiyan faces have also appeared on the scene—Goku’s son Goten, and Vegeta’s son Trunks!

Now, the time has come for the Z-Fighters to reunite, as the new World Martial Arts Tournament is set to begin. The greatest warriors on Earth have come together for their chance to capture the title of the reigning champion, Mr. Satan—but behind the scenes, sinister forces are at work. An evil eye watches the competitors’ every move, waiting for the opportune moment to strike. The action grows fierce on the tournament floor, but for the Z-Fighters, the real fight is only just beginning!

Stills from Dragon Ball Z: Season Seven (Click for larger image)

Seven years have passed since the tournament in which Gohan defeated Cell. Goku remains in the Next World, rather than risk attracting more evil beings to Earth, but he cheerfully trains under the watchful eye of King Kai (and the other Kais). After years of studying under his mother's tutelage, Gohan enters high school. Although he's awkward around his fellow students, he uses his incredible powers to fight crime in the nearby city as "Great Saiyaman." His feats of daring-do bring him into conflict with martial arts champion, crime fighter, and classmate Videl, the daughter of the obnoxious Mr. Satan. Their rivalry quickly turns into a maladroit mutual attraction. When a new tournament is announced, Gohan begins training himself and his seven-year-old brother Goten. Most of the season is devoted to the preparations for the tournament and its first rounds: Goku returns to Earth for one day to participate; Vegeta, Piccolo, Krillin, Android 18, Gohan, Videl, Goten, and Trunks all enter, with Mr. Satan ranked as the defending champion. Most of the story is silly, even by the undemanding standards of Dragon Ball Z, and fans generally regard this season as an interlude between the "Cell" and "Majin Buu" sagas. The latter begins in the final episodes, as two over-muscled thugs in the service of the evil wizard Babidi steal energy from Gohan's Super-Saiyan form. They hope to release the horrible monster Buu, the creation of Babidi's father Bibidi. Ranked against them are the Z Fighters, the Supreme Kai and his attendant Kibit. Great Saiyaman!!
Season 7 takes place after the drool-worthy ending to the Cell games in which Gohan obliterates Cell with his one-handed Kamehameha wave.

Now a few years later Gohan is ready to start High School which means no more home school from Chi Chi.

However, directly before this Goku takes part in a filler martial arts tournament from beyond the grave and we get to see Frieza, King Cold, The Ginyu Force and even Cell again one more time. The final battle of the tournament is Goku (duh) vs. Pikkon under supervision of the Grand Kai. This part honestly has nothing to do with the overall plot of the series and was just a filler section before the next arc starts.

Back to Gohan (and the actual story). Gohan is on his way to school, sees a robbery, and transforms to a SSJ to beat his enemies in a flash.

Now the whole town is going on about the "Gold Fighter". So, in order to draw attention from his new superhero Gohan creates another superhero with a...
Loved the Great Saiyaman arc but some may have problems with the three episodes per disc (disc 4-6)
I have to admit that I'm a bit biased towards the "Dragon Ball Z" anime series. I loved the series when it was first release in Japan and still passionate about it today.

The fact that FUNimation Entertainment releases these season box sets with plenty of episodes (25 in this box set) for under $30 is just awesome! Could you imagine that just several years ago, the series was released with only a few episodes per disc (and there are literally a few hundred episodes of DBZ) and were sold for under $20 at one time. So, the fact that you can watch all these episodes with digitally remastered video and revised audio is just great!

As for this box set, personally I enjoyed the Great Saiyaman arc. We watched little Gohan grow up and now he is a teenager and although he doesn't know it yet, he has met someone he cares about and willing to help her no matter what. The chemistry between Gohan and Bedil is just awesome and episodes just focusing on these two were just...

DBZ Fan!

DBZ is the best action anime of all time, and the DBZ movie pack 2 containes one of the best DBZ movies of all, (Broly,The Legendary Super Sayian). This is a must have for all DBZ and anime fans!

4 of the best DBZ movies

It's Dbz, what's not to like lol. Seriously if you're a fan, this is a must buy, this 4 movies are 4 of the best Dbz movies, at least IMO. This collection contains 4 movies, 2 cases contains 2 movies a piece, very simple. Starting with The Return of Cooler then Super Andriod 13, Broly : The Legendary Super Saiyan, ending with Bojack Unbound (my fav). I highly recommend this collection, each of the movies have been remastered, so the DVD quality looks great, it actually looks of BlueRay quality. Definitely buy this, if you're a fan, you absolutely can't go wrong with this collection.

Great DBZ Collection!

Four great movies starting with Metal Cooler, Super Android 13, Broly the legendary Super Saiyan, and ending with Bojack and his crew. The quality is great and the movie is uncensored (just blood showing) like it originally should be. If your looking for the best DBZ has to offer, this collection comes very close, awesome action is always present but there are DBZ movies with better animations and destruction in them. If your a true fan this is a must own!

Review :
An Incredible Story of Familial Bonds
This film is one of the most incredible, beautiful, and heart wrenching works of art I have ever seen. Whether you're into anime or not, anybody should be able to appreciate this fantastic movie. This is a story about love, and familial bonds, and just how strong those forces can be. Don't watch if you aren't prepared to cry like a baby. The animation is stunning. It has that kind of older, hand-drawn feel that we saw a lot of in the 90s, with the high definition that can only come with more recent projects. The soundtrack is fantastic, giving feelings of both elation and devastation when appropriate. The Japanese voice cast is great, and while I can't as of yet speak for the English dub, I will be editing this review with my thoughts on that, as well as the box set itself and the features, when the product is actually released.

A final note that I want to drive home. In a time when piracy is at an all time high, it has become extremely important to support official...
Classic, a steal at the price and Hosoda's best film
Far, far better than you think. Hana falls in love with the last remaining werewolf in Japan. They build a life together, and have two children until tragedy strikes. She flees with her two children, Yuki and Ame, and tries to live a quiet life in the rural countryside away from prying eyes. But raising two wolf children is harder than it seems.

This is a spectacular, beautiful film. It's documenting the life of a special family, and each shot and situation is done with care and heart. I found far better than Summer Wars, the director's previous work, and this without big action sequences or garish CGI. The two wolf children are absolutely adorable, and watching them grow up and deal with their nature is both heartwarming and sad.

I found the dub to be excellent. Young Yuki in particular was outstanding, but all the voices fit well and none grate. I'm often harsh on dubs, and prefer subs, but Funimation did a great job here. The Instant Video version was a great...
Simply amazing.

Wolf Children is by far one of my favourite movies, and being an anime fan my whole life, I've had the opportunity to experience a LOT of animation. This is definitely among the top! The story of a young mother who gives it all for her children is incredibly touching, and it's told through amazing visuals accompanied by beautiful music. I recommend it to everyone, whether you're an anime fan or not. I also recommend a box of kleenex and something to hug.

Due to it not being released in America until a year and a half later than in Japan, I too was one of the people who downloaded a fansub. But like other reviewers have said, please buy the actual DVD to support the creators! They truly deserve every bit of it.

And if you'd like to enjoy more of the work of this amazing director, Mamoru Hosoda, go check out The Girl Who Leapt Through Time and, my personal favourite of the two, Summer Wars. Enjoy!

Can our heroes resist the wizard’s dark magic and battle their way through this host of villains before time runs out? With each passing second, more energy is gathered for the sleeping Majin Buu. The eighth and penultimate season of Dragon Ball Z pits the Z Fighters, the Supreme Kai, and his attendant Kibito against the evil wizard Babidi, who hopes to release the monster Buu, which his father Bibidi created. (The names are apparently a back-handed salute to Walt Disney's Cinderella.) Goku, who's technically dead but still visting from the Other World, joins Vegeta and Gohan in the initial fights against Babidi's minions. As the battles escalate, Babidi use Vegeta's overweening pride to entrap the Saiyan Prince and turn him against his allies. It's all Goku can do to win Vegeta back, and the energy loosed in their stand-off enables Babidi to free Buu. Instead of one of the over-muscled behemoths the Z Fighters usually tackle, Buu is an obnoxious, infantile creature who looks like a sumo wrestler molded out of pink marshmallows. But he's incredibly powerful and resilient: even the Saiyans can't defeat him. Goku realizes only one warrior can destroy Buu: Goten and Trunks in their Super-Saiyan forms must fuse to form an über-hero. The boys initially balk, as the Dance of Fusion looks and feels silly. But Gohan and Picollo whip them into shape and the formidable Gotenks appears. Season 8 offers much more action and excitement than the World Tournament story that takes up most of Season 7. But unlike the earlier DBZ adventures, the Babidi & Majin Buu Sagas end on a cliffhanger, with the fate of the Earth and its inhabitants hanging in the balance. Review :
Welcome to the world of OZ
If Hayao Miyazaki made a cyberthriller, the result might be something like "Summer Wars." This colorful little anime movie spends most of its run straddling the line between a family reunion comedy and a world war entirely on the web. And the results manage to stir your heart and make you laugh at the same time.

Math nerd Kenji is shocked when popular upperclassman Natsuki asks him to come to her family's country house for the weekend. Unfortunately, he's there under false pretenses -- not only is Natsuki claiming that he's her boyfriend, but that he's a wealthy college student at Tokyo U. Yeah, that is inevitably going to backfire.

But something far worse happens when OZ (a crazy hybrid of amazon.com, Facebook, fighting video games and... well, just about everything you can find on the WWW) is hacked -- and Kenji is the main suspect.

The truth is actually much more sinister -- a horrendous program called Love Machine is devouring OZ user avatars, and...
An excellent localization

I received my preorder of this DVD the other day, and I'm thoroughly delighted with it. Having seen the original Japanese version, I was pleased to see that the localization to English was well done. The dubbing is good, the translation natural, and the voices match to the originals quite well. There are subtitles in a few places where necessary. You get art cards showing the Oz avatars of the main characters, which are quite nice. And the extras (interviews with voice artists and original commercials for the movie) are good too. Besides being a great story in its own right, this'll be the perfect DVD for me to share with family and friends to help them understand what this crazy anime hobby of mine is all about.

A touching family story wrapped in a stunning cyber-thriller!
Or is it the other way around?

Reminiscent of American movies like "War Games," as well as anime greats like "Spirited Away," this movie blends suspense, comedy, family, and a touch of romance in an expert mixture that is fun and heartwarming.

Kenji is a math genius with no self-confidence and, in his opinion, nothing else he is good at, especially when it comes to the fairer sex. He is spending his summer break working in tech support for the mega-giant, all pervading social networking site Oz when the girl of his dreams, the popular upperclassmen Natsuki, asks if he can work for her over the summer. The job is simple, she says. He just needs to accompany her on a trip to her Grandmother's house for a family reunion and do whatever odd jobs are needed to help out her big family. When it turns out that the real job is to pretend to be her fiancé, he balks at first. After all, he has never even taken a girl on a date, let alone gotten serious enough to be...

Dragon Ball Z (1989), the second TV adaptation, is the most beloved: it ran for 291 episodes--more than Dragon Ball (1986) and Dragon Ball GT (1996) combined. Over the years, the program has introduced countless boys to the world of Japanese animation. The first season re-introduces the main characters and sets up a new threat. Goku learns he's not an Earthling, but a Saiyan from the planet Vegeta. Only three other Saiyans survive, all of them extremely powerful and destructive. Goku destroys Raditz with the help of Piccolo, but dies in the process. He spends much of the season training in the Other World with King Kai. Piccolo takes over training Goku's son Gohan, anticipating he will have to face the remaining Saiyans, Nappa and Vegeta. These episodes set the pattern for the combination of martial arts training, fantasy-battles and slapstick comedy that make the series so popular. The storyline rambles, with lots of digressions, repeats, and false endings--none of which bother the fans. Although Dragon Ball Z has been released previously in the US, Funimation pulled out all the stops for this edition. The entire series has been remastered from the original prints, and the Japanese language track is included for the first time. (Goku and Krillin have higher-pitched, younger voices than they do in the American dub.) For Dragon Ball Z fans, this version clearly supercedes all previous ones. (Rated TV PG. suitable for ages 8 and older: violence; minor incidents of risqué and toilet humor, ethnic stereotyping and alcohol use) --Charles Solomon

Satisfied long time adult fan of DBZ
Quick Facts: I'm 27, been a fan of Dragon Ball Z since 1999, and a fan of anime since 1992. I'm very picky about uncut anime, and I always prefer the original aspect ratio. I dislike English dubs as most any anime fan does. This is my first review of a DVD.

Video: FUNimations claims this is a widescreen transfer from the original video. Dragonball Z fans are screaming the original video was cropped to make it widescreen. I've spent the last 2 days with WinDVD and Photoshop to confirm or disprove this. Anyone who does image editing knows that cropping a 4:3 image to 16:9 can be really dramatic. After watching 67 episodes of this new release from FUNimation, I wasn't completely convinced about the transfer being cropped from it's original 4:3 aspect ratio. Dragonball Z fans are correct to say the widescreen transfer is cropped, but they also would need to admit to that the 4:3 broadcast we fans know and love was also cropped! The widescreen transfer has extended video on the...
Amazing if you have an HDTV , still good without!
Well first, I would like to say that I own the COMPLETE original Dragonball Z DVD's that Funimation originally released. If you are wondering which to buy, then I will try to be of some help.

This particular season, was re-released by Funimation, the voices were re-done to be that of the Frieza Saga and beyond (all of you may know that Vegeta and Goku's voices sounded kind of wimpy when Pioneer did them). There are episodes that were NOT released to DVD originally by Pioneer, and these are all un-cut. Now lots of people are saying that this is "cropped", I have yet to notice them, yes, you did lose some screen on the top and bottom, but have you ever tried watching the 4:3 format of DBZ on a HDTV? It looks awful, it is very pixel lated, and blurry and whenever they do a Energy blast, you can see freckles around it. If you have a Wide-screen TV and want these again, buy these, you will NOT be disappointed. The colors are amazing to say the least, and you cannot even tell...
The Most Controversial Anime Gets A Controversial DVD
"Dragon Ball Z" is the most controversial anime ever made. Not for reasons because of questionable content in the vein of "Evangelion," "Cowboy Bebop," and "Koi Kaze" (though the show is very violent), but just in various different arguments. Some people feel that "Dragon Ball Z" represents the best anime has to offer, while other people believe that "Dragon Ball Z" represents the worst anime has to offer. Add into the fact that "Dragon Ball Z" has had one of the most questionable dubs of all time, and (along with "Sailor Moon") helped make anime popular in the USA (before "Pokemon" and "Yu-Gi-Oh!" painted anime as thirty minute toy commercials). With a reputation like that, "Dragon Ball Z" is certainly one of the most important animes ever made, but the show has been a hassle to buy if you were a fan of the show. Released in overpriced DVD's that retailed for $25 each and contained three episodes a piece, one had to buy at least SEVENTY DVD's before they could get all of "Dragon Ball...

Keep 'em coming! I'm McLovin' these releases!
Dragon Ball is an amazing series. While Dragon Ball Z is the more famous anime series because of all its super battles, Dragon Ball is actually a little bit more enjoyable because of its light-hearted humor mixed with more traditional fight scenes. With Dragon Ball FUNimation is releasing the series in an amazing and affordable format. These releases are much better handled than the Dragon Ball Z releases being that they are not cropped and the original opening and closing themes are sung in English! If you're a fan of the Dragon Ball manga or Dragon Ball Z, then I truly suggest you get Dragon Ball. With a release of 30-31 episodes a season this volume is the midway point of the series.

Volume 1: Episodes 1-31 (31 episodes) Pilaf Saga -> Training/1st Tournament Saga -> Start of Red Ribbon Army Saga

Volume 2: Episodes 32-61 (30 episodes) Continuation of Red Ribbon Army Saga

The following are pure speculation and often FUNimation makes wacky choices when...
Season Three of "Dragon Ball" is an action-packed, all out fight fest!
t's the series that started it all... "Dragon Ball". Originally, a manga series written and illustrated by Akira Toriyama for "Shonen Jump", the manga series lasted from 1984 through 1995 and since the manga series has produced several anime series which include "Dragon Ball", "Dragon Ball Z", "Dragon Ball GT" and currently in Japan, a new HD broadcasting of "Dragon Ball Kai" and in 2009, an American live action film titled "Dragonball Evolution" was released worldwide.

"Dragon Ball" is the first arc of the series which aired in Japan from 1986 through 1989 and lasted for 153 episodes. The series was released by Harmony Gold USA in the late 80's and then by FUNimation Entertainment in 1995 and uncut episodes were released on DVD in 2003.

And now the episodes have been released in the USA uncut, remastered and digitally restored. In Feb. 2010, the third season of "Dragon Ball" was released with 31 episodes on five discs.

"Dragon Ball - Season Three"...
Dragonball is amazing!

I have always loved Dragonball Z since it debuted in America in 1996. I own every episode and have watched the series beginning to end more times than I can count. The crazy thing is I never watched Dragonball until now in 2010. I absolutely love it. I bought the season 1, 2, and 3 box sets and I am addicted to it. It changes the way I look at DBZ, I love them both. My only problem is waiting for the last 2 box sets. I wish I became a fan later this year :). I could watch it on the net but waiting 2-3 months will make it an even greater treat and my anticipation will be through the roof. I love the Japanese music they have, its different than the American music in that there are a lot more quiet scenes in DB than the Faulconer dub of DBZ. In the BF DBZ dub they play music for everything in this there are more quiet scenes. Its great!

''You won't believe how powerful it is now!'' -- NewType

Having suffered heavy losses in the battle with the Saiyans, and with Goku still recovering from his injuries, the remaining Z-Fighters must embark on a perilous journey to Planet Namek in search of the Namekian Dragon Balls. Unbeknownst to them, however, a powerful new enemy has set his sights on the same prize the ruthless tyrant Frieza!

Beset on all sides by danger, Gohan, Krillin, and Bulma must fight for their lives as they struggle to keep the Dragon Balls from falling into evil hands. Meanwhile, Goku races against time to join his friends in their quest, but waiting for him on Planet Namek is an army of the most powerful villains the universe has ever known, led by Frieza s most elite fighting unit the unstoppable Ginyu Force!

Season Two contains:

-The Complete Namek Saga - first time on DVD! and Captain Ginyu Saga

-35 Action-Packed Episodes on 6 discs

-Revised English Dialogue with Original Japanese MusicThe second season of the wildly popular Dragon Ball Z comprises the "Namek" and "Captain Ginyu" sagas. Gohan, Krillin, and Bulma travel to the planet Namek to find an even more powerful set of Dragon Balls that can restore the lives of Tenshinhan, Yamucha, Chaozu and Piccolo, who were killed by Vegeta during the first season. (Their souls continue to train with King Kai in the Other World.) All is not well on Namek: the arch-villain Frieza, who looks and sounds a bit like Truman Capote, also desires the Dragon Balls. If he uses them to obtain eternal life, he'll rule the universe forever. With a cadre of lieutenants that includes Vegeta, he slaughters the Namekians to gain the supernatural orbs. After his injuries have been healed by a magic senzu bean, Goku heads to Namek. En route, he trains at 100 gravities, raising his powers enormously. Vegeta believes Goku may be the legendary Super Saiyan that appears once a millennium--except he lacks the requisite love of battle. This version of Goku is less aggressive, and he uncharacteristically uses his brain (never his greatest asset) to defeat Ginyu, Frieza's second-in-command. Unlike Season 1--Vegeta Saga, Season 2ends on a cliff-hanger. Skeptics may find Goku's adventures needlessly protracted, over the top, and even silly. But for millions of boys, they provide the special blend of comradeship, martial arts training, and take-no-prisoners battles they love. The newly remastered edition includes the original Japanese dialogue for the first time. Journey to the West
The last time I saw a cartoon series that captivated me to watch it from start to finish was around 10-15 years ago (Transformers: Beast Wars & Mobile Suit Gundam Wing). Cartoons of today don't seem to hold up very well compared to their predecessors as I continue to have a hard time finding a more "recent" cartoon show to watch. So I decided to look to the past for a great show to immerse myself in.

Now that's where Dragon Ball comes in. I remember watching DBZ on Toonami to what seems like ages ago, I remember vaguely watching Dragon Ball at a best friend's house, but I only remembered the episode "Oolong the Terrible." Without hesitation, I purchased all five box sets, and what began as simply an "impulse" buy became something much more.

Everything about Dragon Ball, every episode, character, storyline, and yes even the filler itself I enjoyed, I thought everything was great. I can't think of a show since Beast Wars, GW & Cowboy Bebop where I was excited to...
Your Second Wish Has Been Granted...
The new first season set of Dragon Ball uncut isn't even out yet and they've already announced this season two set. While the main reason to buy the first is the first chance ever to own the original thirteen episodes uncut in a proper North American set most fans will probably continue on buying this one as well. I suspect many of those who already own this batch of episodes uncut on the old sets will buy this one as well in an effort to collect all the episodes in nice sets that complement each other when lined up on a shelf. Given the running time of 720 minutes this set should contain the following thirty episodes from the Red Ribbon Army, General Blue and Commander Red Sagas:

32 The Flying Fortress: Vanished!
33 The Legend of a Dragon
34 Cruel General Red
35 Cold Reception
36 Major Metallitron

The Definitive Collection Continues!!

Season Four contains the complete Garlic Jr., Trunks and Android sagas on 6 discs.

Having returned victorious from their battle with Frieza, the Z-fighters can at last breathe a collective sigh of relief… But they won’t have long to rest. A new host of villains has appeared, ready to wreak havoc on the Earth—and Goku, the Z-Fighters’ greatest hero is still missing!

In the face of these new dangers, a mysterious youth with Super Saiyan powers has come bearing a bleak prediction for the future: in just three years’ time, an evil greater than any the Z-Fighters have ever faced will emerge to cast a shadow of destruction and despair over the Earth. And if the young Saiyan’s prediction is correct, the Z-Fighters will have to train like they have never trained before in order to have any hope against these seemingly unstoppable foes—the Androids!Goku is still missing in action after the destruction of the planet Namek, as the fourth season of Dragon Ball Z opens. With Goku unavailable, Gohan and the other Z-fighters must defeat Garlic Jr., who has reemerged from the Dead Zone with his accomplices, the Spice Boys. Gohan saves the Earth by ramping up his powers and destroying the planet Makyo, the source of Garlic's strength. Before the dust can settle a new menace arrives: A largely robotic version of Frieza and his more powerful father, King Cold. These villains are easily dispatched by a new Super Saiyan: Trunks, the illegitimate son of Vegeta and Bulma. Trunks has come from the future to save Goku from what would have been a fatal heart virus. Goku must live to prevent the Artificial Humans created by Dr. Gero from ravaging the Earth. (Gero was one of the leaders of the Red Ribbon Army, which Goku destroyed in Dragon Ball.) But Trunks' mission may have altered the future in ways he didn't intend: Instead of two Androids, there are three, all programmed to kill Goku. The season ends on a cliffhanger, with the fate of the Z-Fighters--and the Earth--hanging in the balance. Trunks' visit creates a number of paradoxes, including the problem of his existing as an adult and an infant in the same space-time. However, these questions are unlikely to trouble Dragon Ball fans, who will be too busy watching Vegeta training at 450 gravities, Gohan mastering his latent powers, Goku's new combat move, and any number of battles, not to mention the comic relief of Krillin's courtship of Maron and Master Roshi's continued lechery. Some of these epsiodes were recut into the feature The History of Trunks. (Rated TV PG. suitable for ages 8 and older: violence, alcohol and tobacco use, ethnic stereotypes) --Charles Solomon

Review :
The Greatest Collection of the Greatest Anime
Dragonball Z is famous across the globe, most noted for being one of the all time most popular anime series ever created. The show does an excellent job of staying true to the mangas, with few name changes and plot adjustments. This collection happens to be my personal favorite collection of all of the available ones to choose from. Why? It's because of the interesting sagas that it contains.

The Garlic Jr Saga is a great series of episodes that is highly overlooked. Garlic has returned from his "Dead Zone" imprisonment. He now seeks revenge on the earthlings, and will stop at nothing to continue his attack on Piccolo and Kami for the death of his father. Armed with new henchmen and still gifted with immortality, it seems as if Garlic Jr is unstoppable. The fight between Gohan, Krillin, Piccolo and Garlic Jr is one of the most action packed ones ever placed within the anime. The plot is great, and the show does a great job of keeping the viewer enticed and engaged...
My Least Favorite DBZ Season

This is my lesat favorite DBZ box set. It covers the boring Garlic Jr. saga, the Trunks saga and the Android saga. Although this is my least favorite DBZ, it's still great. Everyone likes the Trunks and Android sagas. I'm personally not a fan of the Garlic Jr. saga and the filler episodes that follow. It's still great though. My favorite feature of this box set is the marathon feature option. This allows you to watch all the episodes on each disc w/o any previews or opening/closing songs. It makes everything flow so much smoother. The video and audio quality is also very good in this collection. It is presented in 5.1 dolby digital. The dialogue has also been revised. It's a great addition to any DBZ fans collection.

I loved it... but...

I loved this entire season. The Garlic JR saga was filler, but it's sorta entertaining also. The introduction into the androids is pretty solid. My only problem with this is who I bought it from. I don't know how, but goHastings managed to to include bread crumbs into my season set, along with a messed up booklet. Let this be learned to NEVER buy from them.

Review :
Frieza, the greatest character in the Dragon Ball universe, or the summit of the artistic talent of Akira Toriyama
Dragon Ball has become a manga bestseller and a champion with audiences around the world. The executives at Toei Animation, which financed the TV show, motivated by this, kind of forced the author, Akira Toriyama, to continue producing new sagas, new characters and new storylines. Thus, Dragon Ball franchise has a very uneven quality: there are some brilliant moments in the series, and there are moments that are real disasters.

But if there is a time in the series when it reached an really high artistic level it was in the Frieza saga. Frieza is by far the greatest villain of the entire universe of Dragon Ball, and is the culmination of the creative talent of Toriyama. Frieza is a psychologically complex villain, and the construction of his character is extremely rich. We are facing a character of great aesthetic value; Frieza may well be among the great characters of universal literature and cinema. I doubt there is any fan of Dragon ball that has not Frieza among his...
Awesome

Awesome, dragonball z is amazing the new dvd sets are a must have for all fans. alot of people seem to be disatisfied by the new releases but i can't understand why. thenew stuff is uncut and is of higher quality than i remember it being when i watched years ago, if you are a fan you will not be disapointed. if your one of those really annoying people who try to critisize everything even when its a good thing you will still buy this set and secretly love having all the episodes. Enjoy.

The battle that lasted 33 episodes

This DVD set includes the entire Frieza saga. It goes up to the point where Namek explodes just after Frieza's defeat.

Explore the far reaches of the galaxy in this undeniably hip series that inspired a generation – and redefined anime as an indisputable art form. The Bebop crew is just trying to make a buck. This motely lot of intergalactic loners teams up to track down fugitives and turn them in for cold hard cash. Spike is a hero whose cool façade hides a dark and deadly past. The pilot Jet is a bruiser of a brute who can’t wait to collect the next bounty. Faye Valentine is a femme fatale prone to breaking hearts and separating fools from their money. Along for the ride are the brilliant, but weird, hacker Ed and a super-genius Welsh Corgi named Ein. On their own, any one of them is likely to get lost in the sprawl of space, but together, they’re they most entertaining gang of bounty hunters in the year 2071.

Review :
The best possible presentation of this show.
Cowboy Bebop is my favorite anime and I'm ecstatic to finally have it on Blu Ray. This set isn't perfect, but it is the best this show is ever going to look. I'd like to address the negative reviews that have started to come in. Their complaints seem to be three-fold:

- The show isn't really HD because it isn't widescreen.
- The show isn't really HD because it is upscaled, and doesn't look better than the DVDs.
- The sound is somehow worse than before.

All of these claims are absolutely wrong. Firstly, the show was originally made in 4:3. That means that converting it to widescreen would require cropping, which would mean both loss of fidelity and loss of parts of the image. If this had happened, I would consider this transfer utterly ruined. Movies and shows should always be presented in their original aspect ratio, and cropping is unacceptable. They are still very much HD by definition.

Secondly, only certain elements of the image are...
Great a/v presentation but some weird menu options
Overall great picture and sound quality. There are some frequent instances of colorbanding and a some obvious edge enhancement going on here and there, but this doesn't do anything to detract from the presentation. Honestly the fact that a show this old looks this good is amazing. The show does look stunning, easily the definitive version of the series. It's simple, if you're a fan get this set.

There are some odd menu issues for me though, whoever authored these discs needs to be thoroughly slapped with a fish. When you're in the blu ray menu, which is nice and simple btw, and you want to highlight a selection it gets a bit confusing. For example, let's say you want to select the English dub (why not it's actually very good), so you highlight the English dub and press ok ... and when you hit play it's in Japanese. Wha? Yeah the non-highlighted item (dim) item is the one that is actually being selected. This is a completely counterintuitive authoring decision and...
More details About What's Included
I will admit, I have been waiting for this release forever. As of this posting (2014 Oct 7) there is no real video or screen captures to showcase the video and audio quality of this release. So I will list the tech specs and contents of the discs as it appears to be missing above. I will note that there is 2 Limited Edition versions out there one is Amazon's Cowboy Bebop: The Complete Series - Amazon Exclusive Edition (Blu-ray/DVD Combo), and then there is Funimation's version. Between all three versions, the content on the discs are the same so you are not missing out on anything there. Where things get tricky is Amazon is offering a limited Edition clamshell art box (their words not mine) and 2 books with concept sketches and drawing of the crew of Bebop (1 color 1 black and white). Where as Funimation depending on how you look at it offers a little bit more. Funimation's Limited Edition set comes with...

... formats over time and this is by far my favorite! Funamation is keeping me hooked

I have bought the DBZ seasons in all their formats over time and this is by far my favorite! Funamation is keeping me hooked! I have my fingers crossed for a bluray version of Dragon Ball.

Season 5

I have been reviewing my blu-ray DBZ seasons and I've been saying pretty much the same thing every time. If you want just watch DBZ whenever you want then get they orange brick DVD sets. They are good...they are what my brother in law owns. But for me I love having the clear picture and the beautiful colors poping out more. Blu-ray is for those who want the picture and sound as good as it can get...just saiyan...ahhh you see what I did there.

Great for DBZ fans

Love DBZ and glad they put it on blu ray. Have all the orange bricks n this is way better and it not crop so bad either.

Review :
Full frame releases would have been better, but what is here is so much better than people are giving it credit for.
Let me preface this. I'm in my thirties. I've got DBZ releases across Pioneer discs, Funimation single discs, Dragon Boxes, Orange Bricks, Funi Blu Rays and steelbooks of the movies, and now these new Blu Rays. I never got the Level sets, because the Dragon Boxes had just finished, it seemed kind of pointless at the time, but now I realize it's a shame that they cancelled full frame Blu Ray releases. But my point here, I'm going to try to make an argument FOR these Blu Rays, and I'm not new to this franchise, and I'm not an "accept everything and like it" fan. I may have bought some Orange Bricks, but I was not a fan of the cropping on those releases.

I received my Blu Ray of the first season, and after watching it, I popped in the first Dragon Box, and then individual discs of the Captain Ginyu saga to compare the openings, and the colors. The Dragon Boxes essentially look like VHS releases next to this. They're certainly nice to own, but I'm willing to do my next rewatch...
Personally My Favorite Release So Far. . .
I may not be, as many would call it, a "true" DBZ fan, considering my rather late interest in the series. I just started watching this a few years ago when I bought the orange brick sets on DVD. I know, I know. . . They apparently suck and aren't the real deal, but that's what I first experienced the show on. That said, I can only really offer my opinion on this release in comparison to those versions I HAVE seen. So, here goes. . .

Video Quality: The moment I received my purchase, I set out to compare the quality to that of the DVD sets I had in my possession at the time. The Blu-ray, I set to my 720p screen, while I had the DVD playing on my 1080. Even with the reduced resolution, the difference was obvious. Colors and line-work were much, much clearer, no sign of blotches or dust marks, and even much of the odd frame shaking had been reduced. It was still there, that's sure, but there was significantly less of it. Lastly, the cropping, which is what everyone is...
Best release of DBZ forever

This release is awesome.. no grains like (level sets) no pink skin like (Dragon Boxs) and Super QUALITY.

Pick it up now if you're a fan of the series.
